The Senior Director of Hematology Software Engineering within the Beckman Coulter Diagnostics Hematology business is responsible for leading teams of dedicated agile software engineers across multiple subject areas, locations, and products. You will be a key member of the R&D leadership team reporting to the VP, R&D and will be located in Miami. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple Operating Companies across the Danaher enterprise.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Drive the design and development of hematology software and ensure that all software associates, processes, and products remain aligned with worldwide medical device regulations and guidance while following Beckman's own internal procedures for a $400+MM revenue stream
• Lead an organization of approximately 40 resources located in Miami and Bangalore, India, including managers and individual contributors, and all aspects of the day-to-day operation and budget of the hematology software engineering function
• Build and grow a strong offshore engineering presence in the Danaher India Development Center in Bangalore to support the Miami-based software development team
• Key contributor to both product and technical roadmap
• Promote and lead Agile practices across the Hematology business unit and with partner organizations
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement

The essential requirements of the role include:

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 20+ years of experience OR Master's/Doctoral degree with 18+ years of experience AND related experience includes 6+ years leading people
• Experience with embedded software in an FDA regulated environment (eg. life science, diagnostics, instrumentation, reagents, or other FDA regulated space)
• Hands on software engineering skills applied at instrument, workstation and enterprise levels including Windows & Linux operating systems and desktop, privacy and security, embedded and cloud applications, and full stack of skills from user interface, to business logic, to database, to network, to embedded software
• Scrum based agile engineering skills including unit testing and test-driven development; Scaled agile skills using a well-known approach such as SAFe, LeSS, and/or DAD
• Ability to develop strong teams, strategically deploy resources, and enable positive team culture
