The Opportunity

Rapid7’s Platform practice is seeking a Senior Engineering Director to oversee the development of the core capabilities that are the foundation of our suite of SaaS security products. We’re looking for a proven technology leader to help drive our expansion mission by ensuring our portfolio of security solutions work better together to secure our customers' environments, empowering developers to build effective cross-product experiences, and enabling our internal teams to efficiently sell and support our products.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building solutions for other builders and being at the center of a growing ecosystem. You will connect data, products, teams and systems to enable our customers to integrate our products into their security programs. You’ll make it easier for customers to use what they need when they need it by reducing the purchasing friction involved with expanding across our product suite. Most importantly, you will drive the growth and development of an engineering team that is critical to the success of all of our SaaS products including InsightIDR, InsightVM, InsightCloudSec and InsightAppSec.

The Role

In this role, you’ll grow a diverse engineering team and oversee the development of our foundational, unified data, and business support services. You must be a collaborative team player as you’ll work closely with leaders across Rapid7’s business units who depend on and are rooting for your team’s success.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop technical strategy, including developing and maintaining a technical roadmap that will continue to innovate

  • Steer and grow the engineering team, including investing in technical and people managers at all levels

  • Drive a new effort to unify data across our products, including making data accessible via a graph API, supporting integration into third-party systems, and powering new cross-product capabilities

  • Promote a seamless customer experience across our products by developing and ensuring the adoption of core shared services for common capabilities

  • Evolve our in-product business support services, making it easier to sell, provision, license and consume our portfolio of products

  • Work as an effective leader across the organization, and collaborate with Product Management and other teams to translate the business priorities of the company into a technical agenda

Qualifications and Traits

  • Technical Expertise: Well-versed in cloud technologies with a proven record of building scalable enterprise software

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to guide high performing engineering teams, including a consistent ability to attract, assess, select, develop, motivate, and retain the best talent

  • Collaboration and Influencing: Remarkable ability to influence cross-functionally in product management, IT, product teams, sales, strategy and other areas to ensure alignment on the priorities of the engineering team

  • Minimum of 8+ years of engineering leadership experience with a proven track record of successful development and delivery of complex, enterprise-class software

  • Track record of retaining, developing, motivating, and mentoring highly effective teams

  • A combination of domain expertise in cloud services, infrastructure, APIs, identity, and integration with enterprise applications such as Salesforce and Netsuite is highly desired

  • Bachelor's degree or better in Computer Science or related field
