Meet the Team
As a member of the Design Systems team, you’ll join a group of engineers and designers passionate about building an accessible and widely adopted design system for HashiCorp’s growing portfolio of products and other experiences.
What We Do
We build and support a single source of truth for the design vision, tools, documentation, process, and infrastructure needed to build accessible, differentiated experiences for Hashicorp’s user interfaces across products, platforms, web, CLI, and brand.
What You’ll Do
You’ll play a key role in creating a design system that will be used across HashiCorp’s products and other experiences. You’ll create the finer details of component design and implementation, and you’ll work on other tools to support the design system.
Collaborate with engineers and designers across the company to understand their needs and work to develop the necessary tools and infrastructure to build an accessible, extensible design system.
Your Roadmap to SuccessYour First 30 days
- Onboard and become more familiar with HashiCorp’s products
- Gain familiarity with the Design System codebases and repositories (and suggest possible improvements where you see the opportunity)
- Collaborate with the designers in the team, participating and contributing to discussions around the implementation of components in the Figma libraries
- Start to contribute to the development of UI components in our Ember.js component library
- Review other team members’ pull requests, and provide timely feedback to them
Your First 90 Days
- Take ownership of the implementation of UI components for our library, collaborating with the team’s designers to define specifications, variants/states, APIs, documentation, and adoption plan.
- Gain familiarity with and work directly on the products' codebases that are using the design system, to support the correct adoption of the components provided by the design system.
- Fully participate and contribute to all the team activities and processes: daily syncs, weekly planning sessions, weekly office hours, and bi-weekly retrospectives. You are starting to add to and influence the team’s culture.
- Build relationships with engineers and designers who are adopters of the design system
- Work with engineers and designers on the team to define a backlog, scope tasks, and set short and medium-term goals
Your First 180 Days
- Contribute to the development of a documentation site for the design system
- Identify and act on opportunities for automation of established processes
- Serve as a resource for other design and engineering teams on the best way to build accessible products using our design system
- Work with the team to define vision, goals, and roadmaps for the medium and long term.
