The Senior Data Quality Engineer is responsible for testing and assuring the quality of analytical and reporting solutions to support the operational and strategic imperatives of the organization. This position works closely with Data Warehouse (DWH) technical development team and Product in an Agile development process. This role is also heavily involved in developing and executing test cases within Microsoft SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, Tableau, SSRS and/or Jasper environments.
The Sr. Data Quality Engineer participates in all aspects of project testing, business requirement analysis, data analysis, testing strategy, test case creation, test case execution, defect finding and metrics on testing/defect life cycle. This position also performs the analysis and testing activities from end-user perspective to ensure the data quality of all the customer-facing products and is required to understand the operations processing and execution across all lines of business.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure data integrity by implementing quality assurance practices in support of data warehouse environments and ETL processes/projects
  • Analyze data and reporting assets to ensure that products meet design specifications and standards
  • Design test plans, scenarios, scripts and procedures based on business requirements
  • Test any new products to ensure functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications are adhered to
  • Contribute to standards and procedures for measuring product quality and release readiness
  • Create, maintain, and execute manual and automated test cases for functional and regression testing and follow the defect management process
  • Involve in functional testing, exploratory testing, postproduction validation, integration testing, end to end testing and other testing activities
  • Ensure adherence to standardized QA policies, processes and documentation standards
  • Involve in QA process improvement, QA KPI definition and implementation, new tools analysis and other QA strategic initiatives
  • Efficiently work in an Agile environment - both Sprint and KanBa
  • Assist in mentoring and developing other QA members of the BI team
  • Responsible for (re)testing QA/UAT/Production defect fixes
  • Familiar with source code, version management, and code deployment standards and for utilizing this knowledge to ensure that QA processes and procedures for test environments are followed and that the integrity of the various environments is not compromised
  • Up to 10% travel as needed
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline or training/certification on ETL and Data Warehouse testing
  • 5+ years of database/warehouse experience in Information Technology with a reporting/analytics or software development focus
  • 2+ years of using test management tools like HP ALM/qTest/xRay and Two years of experience using any automated ETL/Dashboard/Reporting testing tool
  • Demonstrated solid SQL skills in reading and writing data from a relational database for purposes of data warehousing, ETL, and data management
  • Work is moderately supervised
  • Ability to face problems that are difficult but typically not complex and requires some depth of analysis
  • Ability to communicate information typically within the immediate team on matters that involve obtaining or providing information of direct importance to the team
  • Provide guidance and assistance to entry-level and/or support professionals
  • Passion to discover data-driven solutions that solve business problems within a healthcare setting
  • Possess data warehouse core techniques: design, ETL, query development and optimization to move from ambiguity to a solution

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare data domain knowledge including EDI standards, authorization, claims, DRG, diagnosis and other related taxonomies applicable in claims / clinical workflow
  • Aglie process experience including scrum and kanban frameworks
  • Test automation experience supporting warehouse / ETL data flows
  • Exposure to big data technologies (NoSQL) and machine learning tools, including R and Python
  • Comfortable working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight schedules and target dates as part of a high-performing team
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, time management skills and think out of the box
  • Work to achieve operational targets, which has moderate impact on the overall achievement of results for the team
