A DAY IN THE LIFE:

The senior engineer will primarily be responsible for building tools and automation for deployment and management of a modern cloud infrastructure that forms the backbone of our digital health platform, to eliminate manual operations and craft repeatable processes using leading edge best practices, design patterns and security policies. This role will have a strong background deploying and automating cloud infrastructure solutions based on DevOps principles, providing capabilities for continuous deployment, delivery, and configuration of infrastructure components. They will also be responsible for building optimal platform observability and lead organization wide cost optimization initiatives.

  • Develops modularized infrastructure automation (IaC) and orchestration pipelines for end-to-end cloud infrastructure lifecycle management, which can be used to consistently and repeatedly deploy and manage all platform environments.
  • Guides and assists software architects and engineering teams as needed in developing automation for configuration of infrastructure components and/or third-party services.


  • Works closely with infrastructure architects to lead planning and automation of infrastructure migration to cloud environments.
  • Partners with infrastructure architects and other teams to lead the design, implementation, and management of workload automation initiatives


  • Assesses, recommends, and implements efficient logging and monitoring solutions that provide deep observability into performance and reliability of our cloud environments.
  • Performs gap assessments and identifies opportunities to optimize cloud infrastructure management and operations through efficient use of monitoring, logging and IaC best practices.
  • In collaboration with engineering and operations teams, identifies, and implements strategies and best practices to reduce cloud cost and maximize the business value of using cloud.
  • Assists in defining and implementation of a cloud governance model with right level of access controls, security, and cost management for our cloud subscriptions.
  • Works closely with IT security team to integrate and deploy their requirements into all environment build plans and remediate infrastructure security findings.
  • Develops necessary supporting documentation and provides training to other team members/teams on usage of infrastructure automation and orchestration.
  • Regularly participates in Agile ceremonies, estimates effort during sprint planning and performs effective peer code reviews.


  • Contributes to the overall team objectives and enthusiastically assists/trains other team members as needed.


  • Actively leads and participates in assessment, evaluation and recommendation of new technologies and cloud services to meet platform needs.
  • Manages source code effectively using Source Code Management (SCM) tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements with support from subject matter experts within the company.



YOU'RE AWESOME AT:

  • Extensive experience with infrastructure automation and configuration tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, Ansible, Go, Python or similar technologies.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Artifactory, Harness, Bamboo, Vault, or similar toolset
  • Proven experience working with a range of Microsoft Azure services: VMs, Blobs, VNets, ExpressRoute, SQL Database, Cosmos DB, Traffic Manager, Functions, Files, App Gateway etc.
  • Experience deploying and managing secure, scalable, highly available and fault tolerant systems on Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with canary and/or blue-green deployment models within Azure Cloud environment to achieve zero downtime production deployments.
  • Solid understanding of basic internet principles such as HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, Networking, Load Balancing, etc.
  • Working knowledge of IP networking, encryption, IPsec, VLANs, VPNs, routing, firewalls.
  • Experience with infrastructure and application logging/monitoring tools such as New Relic, ELK, Fluentd, Prometheus/Grafana etc.
  • Experience with containers/Kubernetes and it's tooling, such as Helm and Azure AKS.
  • Knowledge and experience with FDA and ISO regulated industries.
  • Ability to lead, contribute and thrive in a team environment.
  • Able to work independently and deliver high quality work product without close supervision.



EXTRA AWESOME:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent• HashiCorp Terraform Associate Certification• 5+ years of experience designing and building Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipelines for cloud infrastructure solutions deployed on Microsoft Azure.• 2+ years of experience with micro-services/containers/Kubernetes and serverless technologies • Experience in implementing healthcare regulatory compliance and risk management requirements (e.g., security, privacy, SOX, HIPAA, ASIP etc.)• Strongly prefer candidates with Terraform and/or Azure certifications
