SG: 21 - Sr. Associate Engineer - Simulation
As a Sr. Associate Engineer with the Large Power Systems Division, you will serve as a contributing team member on projects and assignments that are complex in nature and that support and enhance Caterpillar product performance, durability, reliability and quality. This will entail working with local and remote platform/component design engineers to understand the project requirements, developing simulation plans, and completing/managing the execution of these projects. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology. You will also continue to grow your professional network.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Candidate filling this position will be responsible for performing structural analysis (FEA) on valvetrain and rotating component systems.
• Document analysis objectives, conclusions, results, and assumptions.
• Interpret analysis results and communicate recommendations for design improvement.
• Gain expertise in this area and take on more responsibility in leading projects.
• Contribute to the identification, analysis, and resolution of needs and problems in rotating components and begin to build a reputation as an expert.
• Perform complex analysis work, identify, and solve problems.
• Keep up to date on new technologies and/or develop new technologies
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in accredited Engineering
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to work on increasingly more complex assignments
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers.
Desired Qualifications:
• 1-2 years of FEA experience including co-ops, internships or a Master's degree in an Engineering curriculum
• 1-2 years of Internal Combustion engines experience
• Knowledge/experience with Engine dynamics and vibrations
• Master's degree in an engineering curriculum

  • This position is located in Mossville, IL or Lafayette, IN.
  • This position may require up to 10% travel.
  • Relocation is available for this position.
