About the role:

The Senior Applications Specialist resolves complex issues requiring detailed systems and application knowledge. The Senior Applications Specialist responds to requests submitted via phone or the ticket portal. The requests can be technical or application in nature and require depth of knowledge and experience. The Senior Applications Specialist is often a subject matter expert in multiple areas or applications. They may troubleshoot and resolve application errors that require data manipulation. This Senior Applications Specialist documents all work in designated ticket systems while working to achieve departmental Service Levels. Senior Applications Specialists work cross-functionally and are frequently involved in both the Incident and Change Management practices and may participate in scheduled change implementations.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot complex issues requiring detailed systems and application knowledge which have been escalated from Tier I
  • Handle identified security issues with applications and remediate and/or work with other team developers as needed
  • Monitor and identify server concerns and work with other team members as necessary for remediation
  • Respond to and complete questions or work requests assigned via ticketing system that require longer work/handle time and potentially multiple contacts to the customer/user via email or phone, or internal online chat.
  • Research and troubleshoot end-user issues that may require access to sensitive or business impacting data; perform data manipulation and scrubs using approved methodology when needed
  • Adheres to all data handling protocols
  • Ensure a timely resolution and/or escalate non-resolvable issues to more senior experts or other work groups as appropriate
  • Contribute to scheduled change implementations to perform testing or validation of change, occasionally requiring off hours availability
  • Participate as needed during project and sprint reviews
  • Alert senior team members and/or management to recurring issues and problem patterns; work with other internal teams to keep them informed of on-going issues
  • Opportunity to contribute to development efforts for team maintained applications

Skills & Requirements:

  • Excellent phone and customer support skills with the ability to troubleshoot remotely
  • Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills, self-driven, self-starter
  • Ability to understand and articulate technical concepts and derive solutions
  • Strong technical understanding of the various hardware, software and networking systems being supported
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills in application and server environments
  • Familiarity with web application technologies include PHP, MySQL, Oracle, MS-SQL, .NET on both Windows and Linux platforms
  • Solid skill set for troubleshooting and remediating security issues in both application and server environments
  • Familiarity with Agile, Sprint Management, Azure DevOps

Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:

Associate Degree in technical field and 4 years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or directly related Technical experience required. Bachelors degree may be substituted for some experience as deemed appropriate.
