Sr. Android Software Engineer - SDV
Description
The Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! Within the Software Defined Vehicle, GM is developing the next generation of embedded platform software to deliver state of the art Infotainment features on the Ultifi platform.
As a Software Engineer, you will design and develop high quality embedded software component for GM automotive products. You will implement software tasks spanning the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, requirements analysis, design, code, test, defect resolution, and production release. As a part of the SDV group, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative systems and designs in a rich and results-oriented team environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design and develop Android based infotainment solutions for automotive consumer devices.
- Responsible for the entire life cycle of the assigned domain, including requirements, system design, development, maintenance of the infotainment software.
- Participate in the design of a best-in-class in-vehicle platform for GM infotainment systems.
- Follow our software development process where quality comes first and ensure that the designed solutions conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability and security.
- Engage in all regular software development activities such as architecture, feature requirements, design, code, and test case reviews to ensure that the team delivers high quality code on time.
- Bridge multiple teams, including Engineering, Information Technology, Technical Support, and Marketing, to make appropriate system-level design trade-offs and to identify, collect and refine system requirements and to identify innovation opportunities.
- Work on new feature development, as well as maintenance of existing features and bug fixes Provide clear and complete documentation based on the definition of the software development process
- Collaborate with team members in software development activities using the Scrum/Agile development process. Work closely with various Infotainment teams to support triage and resolution of system issue
Additional Description Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, or related degree.
- 2+ years of Embedded Software Development experience
- Solid experience in designing and developing Linux/RTOS low-level libraries and drivers.
- Excellent programming and debugging skills with C, C++, and unit test framework
- Experience in Linux build system like Makefile.
- Experience with Linux debugging system tools such as GDB.
- Experience with SCM tools such as: Git, Gerrit, OpenGrok
- Working knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process
- Demonstrated analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
Nice to Have
- 5+ years of Embedded Software Development experience
- Experience with QNX programming and development.
- Experience in Android native layer software development.
- Ability to integrate and optimize complex virtualized systems incorporating Linux, Android and RTOS components.
- Prior experience with vehicle infotainment, connectivity or navigation systems.
- Experience with Automotive Diagnostics and CAN preferred
- Experience with board bring up.
- Embedded Android development experiences preferred
- Development experience with scripting languages such as shell and Python.
