Job Description:

The Role

As Cloud Reliability Engineering Squad Leader, you blend deep cloud experience and site reliability engineering expertise with a passion for delivering results. As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities. In an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to execute on specific product features to bring macro level observability, alert notification, and reliability to Fidelity's complex cloud ecosystem. You will ensure alignment on the "what" and "when" work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog. You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation and learn from failures while celebrating success. You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.

  • Creating scalable solutions and automation to monitor the health and establish signals to drive understanding of our cloud environments
  • Interfacing with Fidelity and cloud service provider product teams and driving ongoing reliability improvements in their service offerings
  • Strengthening operational processes with Fidelity support and incident management teams for our cloud ecosystem
  • Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to motivate and build team and partner support and alignment
  • Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team
  • Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria
  • Inspecting and evaluating progress, and removing impediments
  • Measuring performance against established objectives and KPI's that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results
  • Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development and learning
  • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines


The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technology related field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) required.
  • Possess at least one cloud certification (AWS or Azure preferred).
  • 10-15+ years work experience, several of those in cloud technology
  • Practical experience in building cloud hosted and native applications for the enterprise. Maintains a deep understanding of a wide variety of AWS/Azure services that support reliability, observability, and automation/orchestration.
  • Expertise in building and developing observability platforms
  • Experience in incident/crisis management and supporting mission critical applications
  • Experience designing, developing and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
  • Financial services experience, preferred
  • Agile experience
  • Jira and Jira Align experience preferred
  • You take a data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
  • You grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these
  • You have a strong focus on execution and identify, communicate and remove impediments to progress
  • You are capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building high-performing teams
  • You continuously improve and encourage an agile way of working
  • You establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work collaboratively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach
  • You are intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring and coaching
  • You have or are committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills in order to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers


The Team

You work in partnership with the Cloud Provider Enablement Product Area Leader, other Squad Leaders, Scrum Master, and Chapter Leaders aligned to your squad. By demonstrating and promoting Fidelity and agile leadership behaviors, you sustain and evolve our innovative agile culture. You will integrate with development teams across Fidelity to understand their usage and need of cloud services and drive reliable and intelligent adoption and ongoing usage of cloud. At the scale Fidelity operates in the cloud, your team will be responsible for separating signals from the noise and providing actionable notifications for teams.
