Description and Requirements
About Our Team
The Lenovo solutions development team is seeking a highly motivated software solutions engineer with technical knowledge of software architecture, x86 hardware, basic manufacturing process and program management skills. The candidate will be a member of a global team performing qualification, test & validation on solutions based on general purpose x86 servers.
What You'll Do
Candidates will work in a lab environment and must be able to install and configure solution hardware (including servers, fabric and storage) and software (applications, OS, drivers and firmware). The candidate should also have the ability to assess application performance / resource utilization and be able to optimize / tune for maximum performance is necessary.
Specific tasks required include:• setting up configurations• installing workloads• updating firmware and drivers• executing test cases• debugging / root cause issues identified• running qualification tests for new options.
Basic Requirements:• Bachelors degree in computer science/engineering or 5+ years of solutions development experience• Linux System Administration and Base Linux networking knowledge• Knowledge of Data Center Hypervisors and Cluster Managers• Virtualization knowledge• Computer architecture knowledge (memory hierarchy, processors, GPUs, etc.)• Experience with application performance / optimization / diagnosis• Hardware and Storage configuration experience
Preferred Requirements:• Candidate must be self-motivated and able to work completely self-directed once training is completed.• Excellent written and oral communication skills• Strong teamwork is essential• Experience working as part of a broader, global team preferred• Scripting is a plus• Experience with BMC / IPMI is a plus• Experience with manufacturing
