As a Solution Architect (SA) leading the managed pre-sales efforts you will track, engage, and influence the designs and outcome of complex proof of concept (POC) efforts of Zoom’s most strategic and complex customers via technical leadership.
Solution architects are the technical consultant responsible for leading customer trials from the initial customer request all the way through success and acceptance. Solution Architects must possess not only hands-on, technical skills with collaboration technologies in both the on-premises AND hosted deployment models, but also creativity, sales and consulting skills to determine who the customer stakeholders are, what the success criteria are, and lead the entire process.
The Solution Architect would:
Understand business requirements for customer base and be able to translate them into technical requirements.
Work closely with other technical organizations within Zoom to share best-practices and assets
Ability to engage teams involved in pre-sales design and POC and collaboratively contribute to the success of such efforts
Identify managed opportunities that are at risk and proactively develop and execute on mitigation plans to help address
Support product launch activities and assist with trade shows, conferences, executive briefings and technical training activities
Be part of the team that builds a library of repeatable presales solutions and practices with the objective to decrease the duration of managed POCs, increase deal size, increase customer confidence, lower support costs and shorten overall sales cycles
Create deliverable assets to our customers both internal and external; successfully demonstrating the capabilities of our products, specific to the customers business objectives as well as solutions design, implementation details, configuration items and other customer specific details
Collaborate with internal customers like customer success and support to hand off the managed pre-sales POC details post deal close
Apply learnings to apply continuous improvement practices
Establish, track, and report on key metrics for the managed pre-sales activity and evolve/improve the activity based on those metrics.
Perform in-depth and high-level collaboration architecture presentations for executives, customers, partners and prospects.
Work with the local account team to understand and further the existing sales strategy and provide insight based on experience to win against competition and increase deal size.
The ideal candidate will have a deep and broad business and technical background required to interact with business leaders to understand and clarify objectives, success criteria, etc.; as well as work with the implementation teams to construct solutions that satisfy those criteria. The successful candidate will be able to work cross-functionally and will be a self-directed owner who is passionate about customer happiness.
Understanding the Zoom product stack and a deep understanding of how to apply it in enterprise IT environments is critical to success in this role.
Basic Qualifications
Ability to conduct customer discovery and apply findings to the development of a compelling and complete pre-sales proposal
Presales expertise to communicate the business value of both the proposed design as well as the associated business outcomes of the solution
The right person will be highly technical and analytical and will be capable of understanding the complexities of enterprise IT environments.
Must have 4-7 years of experience in senior technical leader positions in the collaboration industry and enterprise solution design.
Technical knowledge of enterprise IT is required including: Network architecture, VDI environments, firewall configuration, network security, etc. with ability to go deep on technical aspects to understand current and future customer needs
Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as leadership skills.
Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at a time
Driven to learn new technology, smart, confident, not afraid to ask for help.
Highly Motivated, Accountable, driven to deliver results
5+ years field experience in lifecycle design, deployment and support of collaboration solutions across a range of industry verticals
Working knowledge of Internet Edge technology and how it relates to enabling cloud solution offerings.
Current working knowledge of data traffic flows for traditional business applications and collaboration solutions through customer infrastructure.
Working knowledge and application of QoS best practices
Preferred Qualifications
Technical degree highly desired; or equivalent background.
Significant pre-sales engineering background
CCIE certification (or equivalent) highly preferred.
In-depth knowledge of baseline Systems Engineering skills and in-depth knowledge in at least one area of specialization.
Competitive knowledge (in their area of specialization) including solution, technology and product offerings
Ability to quickly assess new portfolio offerings and incorporate into working knowledge for deployment and inclusion in Solution Architect offerings
Software programming skills would be an advantage
