About this Role:

The Architect, Technology is responsible for ensuring that technical solutions meet business requirements. This includes creating detailed technical solutions, scheduling and facilitating meetings across organizations to ensure alignment on proposed solutions, and ensuring technical and quality strategies are aligned. In this role you will provide leadership and best practices for architecture across several different business segments and Application Development Teams. You will be key contributor on architectural decisions related to segment initiatives ensuring they align to compliance standards and with target enterprise architecture vision. You will need a broad knowledge that expands disciplines and the ability to listen and quickly understand the functional areas of the bank. Additionally, this role is responsible to ensure that critical applications are optimized for high availability and disaster recovery. This role reports to a Director of Technology.

Duties may include:

  • Lead or assist in architecture design in moderate to complex business segment initiatives
  • Design cost effective, efficient, and scalable solutions
  • Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software products and services, along with design of standards and custom software configurations
  • Help define technology roadmap strategy for applications and platforms
  • Responsible for integration and connectivity feasibility, security of data in transit and in storage
  • Actively participate in Architectural Guild to develop and govern software policies, standards, and procedures
  • Actively participate in initiative planning to include; high level design, estimates, and identification of cross team/application dependencies
  • Monitor current state environment and identifies opportunities through technology shifts or shifting business requirements
  • Participate in vendor and product evaluations
  • Provide architectural support to Application Development Teams implementing assigned initiatives
  • Lead conversations with customer, business, technical, security, marketing and regulatory stakeholders to establish, prioritize and refine architectural requirements
  • Apply integration patterns and best practices: event driven, synchronous and asynchronous messaging, peer-to-peer, publish-subscribe, distributed logging, RESTful APIs
  • Design legacy integrations using facades and strangler pattern
  • Apply virtualization, container and serverless technology, when merited
  • Work efficiently on several initiatives and projects at once, often with ambiguity, and varying timelines
  • Partner with Application Development Teams/technical lead(s) to provide working proof of concepts
  • Mentor Lead Developers/technical leads

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Systems and application development, including design, development, execution and support
  • Ability to assess current technology environment to identify and document opportunities and gaps
  • Integration technologies and architecture such as SOA, API, and Microservices
  • Fluent in security technologies, tools and strategies to "build security in"
  • Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD technologies, tools and patterns for agile teams
  • Fluent in TCP/IP networking fundamentals and network topologies
  • Experience with technologies, tools and patterns for modeling, managing and interfacing with data
  • Experience with Java, Spring, React and Node desired
  • Experience with OAuth, SAML and OpenID desired
  • Experience in cloud based compute, database, storage and networking solutions; AWS experience desired


EDUCATION AND BACKGROUND

  • Minimum 8-10 years development experience
  • Minimum 3 years in a lead developer or technical lead role
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and tools
  • Bachelors Degree in Computers Science, MIS, or equivalent work experience
  • AWS or Cloud experience
