* Valvoline World Headquarters is located in Lexington, KY, but we invite remote candidates to apply as well. Ideally, we would like candidates located in nearby markets (Cincinnati, Louisville, and Nashville), but we are open to other locations.

How You'll Make an Impact

The Salesforce Solutions Architect proactively and holistically provides solution leadership and supports EA activities that guide the development and management of Valvoline's portfolio of Salesforce projects, products, and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information) on the Salesforce.com platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, Marketing Cloud, Communities, Knowledge, Chatter, etc). He/she has a deep understanding of business goals, objective and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes. The Solutions Architect provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that Salesforce solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. He or she creates deliverables for managing Valvoline's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" Salesforce solutions - including systems (applications, processes and information), shared infrastructure services, and shared application services and components to enable and drive targeted business outcomes. In the role, you would be responsible for:
  • Translating Business Strategy into Solutions Architecture. Works with business partners across Sales, Marketing and Operations to understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding Salesforce system designs and change requirements and IT strategies needed to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes. Leads the technical requirements gathering sessions and translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work. Oversees and approves the creation and maintenance of application and system design documentation.
  • Acting as a consultant on the Salesforce technologies, platform and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes by becoming a highly certified and recognized Salesforce platform expert and by staying current with upcoming changes to the Salesforce platform and product offerings and maintaining professional knowledge of and relationships within the Salesforce.com ecosystem. Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models. Analyzes the technology industry, competitors and market trends, and determines their potential impact on the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Leading Solution Design and Analysis. Interacts with both technical and functional stakeholders to understand requirements, analyze information, and design comprehensive and robust solutions. Leads evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across the Salesforce platform based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements and enterprise standards. Analyzes the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation and innovation). Designs and optimizes business processes while working to standardize, simplify, and align to Salesforce product and solution capabilities and best practices.
  • Creating architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across Valvoline's portfolio of Salesforce solutions, which includes projects, products, and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information) of the Salesforce.com platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, Marketing Cloud, Communities, Knowledge, Chatter, etc). Creates reference architectures focused on detailed design principles, decision points, detailed APIs, major systems and dependencies between business and IT.
  • Orchestrating Solutions Delivery. Architect industry solutions on the Salesforce platform by maximizing the use of "out of the box" capabilities. Designs and directs the governance activities associated with ensuring Salesforce solutions architecture assurance and compliance. Defines the principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are scalable and aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision. Identifies the organizational impact (for example, on skills, processes, structures or culture) and financial impact of the solutions architecture.
  • Facilitating the evaluation and selection of Salesforce software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations. Supports stakeholders in EOL (end of life) decisions to maintain, refresh or retire products, services or systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information) of the Salesforce.com platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, CPQ, Marketing Cloud, Communities, Knowledge, Chatter, etc). Develops a roadmap for the evolution of the Salesforce portfolio from future to current state (as defined by the solutions architecture). Monitors the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.
  • Overseeing the management of Salesforce projects from ideation phase to steady state environment. Works closely with the program/project manager to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project or product lifecycle. Works closely with the product owners and product managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle. Provides guidance and advisory support to project team on implementation approach and complex configuration issues.
  • Building and migrating software and services across the Salesforce platform. Provides guidance and best practices around application development (e.g. Agile methodology). Monitors the various Salesforce environments and works with the development team to ensure code coverage does not fall below the Salesforce and BMI thresholds. Coordinates deployments for the Salesforce team. Collaborate with Release Manager on a release process to test, validate and implement new applications/code and updates to existing applications/code that support key business groups. Guide the development team through any deadlock issues. Participates in QA checkpoints during delivery to provide guidance and ensure solution aligns with original scope.
  • Identifying areas where IT can support business needs and goals. Performs and supports requested changes to existing Salesforce.com configurations and workflows by coordinating and negotiating solutions for complex, cross-functional enterprise systems with multiple parties and their various interests and goals. This may require interaction with other internal IT teams, managed service providers and other vendors to resolve.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion.


What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Business Administration (or higher) in an IT related field
  • Minimum 10+ years of business and/or IT experience
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in at least 2 IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development
  • Minimum 10+ years of CRM Process design and implementation
  • 5+ years of Salesforce platform experience
  • Certified Salesforce Administrator/Advanced Administrator
  • Certified Salesforce Platform App Builder
  • Certified Sales or Service Cloud Consultant
