Summary:

The Solutions Architect partners with EHP business partners, product owners, software development team members, and the Enterprise Architecture function to design and lead the integration of enterprise IT solutions which are aligned with business objectives and core technology assets. The incumbent's overarching goal is to define, design, and oversee the implementation of solutions compliant with the Health Plan's overall technical architecture in order to advance business objectives.

The Solutions Architect designs integrated solutions built on standard IT platforms. As a part of their standard design process over the course of the Enterprise Software Development Lifecycle (eSDLC), the Solutions Assessment Document - crafted by the Solutions Architect - is the key artifact used to describe solution design, technical plans, and standards to be incorporated into the overall solution delivery.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Level I:

  • Provides design leadership, guidance, and assistance in the design and implementation of technology solutions across the Health Plan.
  • Maintains an understanding of how individual and teamwork product and decision-making fits within the broader Enterprise Architecture roadmap.
  • Ultimately responsible for technical solution design - as well as oversight of its implementation - focusing on enterprise reference architecture and integration aspects of overall delivery.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the business' priorities, requirements, and strategies, empowering the incumbent to develop designs and solutions that most effectively support these items.
  • Takes an active role in project design and delivery from inception to completion.
  • Assess and evaluate risk as required.
  • Participates in the creation, development, and ratification of development standards. Mentors and assists development staff in this area.
  • Participates in the design review board process, presenting their solutions to the architecture peer group when called upon to do so.
  • Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values and adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct and Leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.

  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.



Level II (performs functions similar to Level I, in addition to):

  • Leads solutions architecture efforts which drive major programs spanning multiple technology and business areas.
  • Disseminates knowledge within IT as well as throughout the Health Plan on design principles and implementation techniques via position papers and/or presentations.
  • Acts as a de facto leader within the Solutions Architecture practice.
  • Maintains a reputation as a thought leader and subject matter expert in their technical areas of focus.



NOTE:

We include multiple levels of classification differentiated by demonstrated knowledge, skills, and the ability to manage increasingly independent and/or complex assignments, broader responsibility, additional decision making, and in some cases, becoming a resource to others. In addition to using this differentiated approach to place new hires, it also provides guideposts for employee development and promotional opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Level I:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant field (or four additional years of related work experience in lieu of degree). Master's degree preferred.
  • Eight or more years of software and/or system design experience.
  • Two or more years of production experience involving at least four of the following: object-oriented development, web & mobile, database design, ETL, messaging, event management, APIs.
  • Two or more years of architecture or integration experience.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills - particularly the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical staff and leaders.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to work in a diverse, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture preferred.
  • Project and resource management skills preferred.



Level II (requires similar qualifications as level I, in addition to):

  • Eleven or more years of software and/or system design experience.
  • Two or more years of production experience involving each of the following: object-oriented development, web & mobile, database design, ETL, messaging, event management, APIs.
  • Recognized as a leader with a strong ability to inspire and influence others through knowledge, vision, and the ability to formulate and articulate a clear direction on the topic of application and system architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain consensus through influence and the power of their ideas rather than mandates and formal authority.



Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel across regions.
