Description
This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work remotely, but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to live a commutable distance to the innovation center they are selected for. Relocation will be provided as needed

About the Role
First Mile / Future Products works as a technology arm of GM's Innovation business. As a Solutions Architect, you will also be responsible and accountable for the quality and cohesion of all architecture components for your systems.
Platform Management
You will be hands-on and lead various architectural initiatives to ensure our systems and platforms remain stable, secure and compliant with security, privacy and other regulatory matters. As part of this role, you will work across a wide breadth of technology, including supporting SaaS platforms, on-prem deployments of COTs software and fully custom systems.

Additional Description
Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring all First Mile / Future Products systems meet GMIT requirements (5 Star) for technology, security, operational readiness, data analytics onboarding and business continuity
  • Identify and reduce PI/SPI exposures via compensating measures (e.g. data encryption, obfuscation, etc.)
  • Perform systems configuration and management for various on-prem and SaaS platforms (e.g. Adobe Campaign, Miro, etc.)
  • Work with our Software Acquisition, Purchasing and business counterparts to review and provide a recommendation and new software, microservices and other related technology
  • Engagement with our Level 1 and Level 2 operations engineers to onboard new applications and resolve recurring operational issues
  • Responsible for leading the definition of current and future state solution architectures which includes evaluation, selection and integration of vital technical components to build solution designs that support the defined functional and non-functional requirements for the Future Products area
  • Familiar with how to integrate disparate systems using GM standards and industry leading patterns for internal GM platforms and external / SaaS applications and microservices
  • Ensure that designed or reviewed solutions conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability and security across multiple domain areas
  • Experience with next.js, React, Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes, Azure technologies and Pulsar
  • Drive innovation and adoption of new design paradigms and technologies


Requirements:

  • Experience managing a diverse set of applications on multiple platforms (e.g. Linux, Windows, Cloud Foundry PaaS, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of OSI model for full stack troubleshooting / integration
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of professional software development experience
  • 1-3 years' experience with RDBMS, such as MS SQL, Postgres, etc.
  • ETL and data manipulation techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and building of performance customer facing applications at scale
  • Solid understanding of design patterns and software development best practices
  • Experience working in an agile environment, SAFe experience preferred


Knowledge and understanding of cross-platform mobile/web app development is strongly preferred
Tech Skills:

  • Windows Server, Windows 10 client, Linux (Ubuntu, Oracle Enterprise, SLES, RedHat, etc.)
  • Python, Oracle, Prosgres, SQL or PL/SQL
  • Power BI, Tableau and other BI reporting from flat files and a variety of data sources
  • Messaging middleware including IBM MQ / RabbitMQ
  • Apache Airflow (or other), Apache Pulsar/Kafka, ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash Kibana)
  • Big Data technologies, with tools such as Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, Spark, Python, Apache NiFi, Prometheus, Grafana and Parquet.
  • Data integration platforms, tools and techniques such as Talend, DataStage, Pentaho, etc.
  • System monitoring and validation, with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus
  • Containerization concepts, deployed with Cloud Foundry and/or Kubernetes
  • Java/Spring Boot, microservice architecture, cloud native application development and angular/react
