The Solution Architect partnering with both business and technology groups, will ensure that the proposed technical solutions align with the company's overall objectives, and also ensures that both groups enable and drive each other to meet the needs of the company's mission and vision.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Serves as technical expert in application and/or business architecture for software development / infrastructure teams.
  • Acts as SME for project teams in the plan, design, and delivery of IT solutions.
  • In application architecture: designs the inter-system/application structures, advises teams of GM Financial standard requirements, security standards, methodology and processes.
  • In business architecture: defines cross-business function processes, advises teams of consistent processes and common business functions.
  • Drives short & long term architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolio for key business segments.
  • Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and process improvement to enable business strategy
  • Communicates and validates program architecture with Domain Architects, Business Solutions Manager, Program / Project Managers, executive level stakeholders and technical architects.
  • Uses a broad and deep understanding of business and/or technical concepts in multiple specialized fields to develop solutions to problems and design issues.
  • Work assignments are typically focused on key products or business functions in the organization
  • Ability to work independently
  • May manage relationships with suppliers/vendors and/or business partners
  • Understanding and promoting the GM Financial policy on Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
  • To ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant compliance regulations that may govern the GM Financial business and complete all regulatory knowledge training where applicable in a timely fashion



Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of Agile development, Scrum and Application Lifecycle Management
  • Knowledge of SAFe and ability to work in Agile teams
  • Knowledge of standards in IT architecture and infrastructure
  • Knowledge of the software development process and how it fits within the IT architecture and infrastructure
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs
  • Knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems or knowledge of key business functions and processes
  • Understanding of how Information Security fits within the IT architecture and infrastructure


Skills

  • Able to operate with multi geographic teams and locations
  • Ability to deploy DevOps environments
  • Ability to "think big" and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology refresh and hype
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills with business and technical groups
  • Strong software engineering and organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus among many stakeholders
  • Ability to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate IT standards and enterprise guidelines to meet business requirements
  • Ability to interact with and provide architectural design guidance to project teams made up of employee and/or supplier resources
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate with the utmost integrity and consistently display a positive attitude to work and the various challenges encountered in a project environment


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience required


Experience

  • 7 - 10 years of business and systems analysis experience required
  • 7 - 10 years of systems development experience
  • 5 - 7 years of Solution Architecture experience
  • Experience with Cloud architecture, preferably Azure and cloud native


Working Conditions

  • International travel may be required to support business needs
