The Microsoft Federal organization was established to address the unique mission, legal/regulatory requirements, and procurement rules and processes of the United States Government (USG). Microsoft Federal personnel can expect to serve in various roles in the Microsoft Federal organization during the course of their career to meet evolving USG needs, regardless of segment - Civilian, Defense, or intelligence community.ResponsibilitiesThe Solution Architect role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping customer business problems to end-to-end technology solutions. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to engage in discussions with senior level decision makers related to agility, business value, and end to end information technology solutions. The Solution Architect is a key enabler for other architects, consultants and partners, and must have a passion for the customer which is demonstrated through professionalism and striving for excellence in all aspects of the customer engagement and experience.
The successful security leader will be able to identify and connect gaps and patterns across business and technology areas to drive change and the development and implementation of a successful security strategy at the broader Business Unit level. The successful security leader will also be responsible for coordination and collaboration with other Security Leaders across the Microsoft Federal business, contributing to the effective execution of the overall Microsoft Federal Security Strategy.
The Solution Architect role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, and has demonstrated skill in both crisis management and expectation management. Ideal candidates may come from customer, partner and competing organizations and may have played the following types of roles in these organizations; Senior Architect, Chief Architect, Principal Architect or CTO.QualificationsThe Solution Architect must have current and deep experience across the Microsoft suite of security technologies and solutions. Expert level knowledge and real-world experience in Enterprise Security in cloud, on premise and hybrid environments is required. This role also requires assisting customers in architecting, planning and applying governance for Microsoft Cybersecurity, Security and Identity Solutions as appropriate. Advanced industry knowledge in either US Federal Civilian, DOD and/or Intelligence agencies is required.
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture, consulting, and/or technology domain (e.g., Security)
OR equivalent experience.
The candidate must have Enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures and architecture designs and Microsoft's suite of Security technologies.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years experience in technology solutions, practice development, architecture and consulting.
Proven success and expertise in architecting innovative security solutions primarily in a client-facing role
Experience giving presentations to executive audiences and explaining the benefits of the Microsoft security platform
Track record of delivering quality solutions as a Security technical leader
Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft security and identity technologies, such as Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Defender for Identity, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel and M365 Security & Compliance technologies
Knowledge of Cybersecurity concepts and mitigation practices, such as Advanced Persistent Threat (APT), Credential Theft, Zero Trust, Privileged Access Management, Just-in-time Administration, etc.
Knowledge of Security Assessments and Reviews
Knowledge of security, threat modeling, incident response and recovery techniques
Knowledge of Hybrid Cloud and Workload Security configurations and practices.
Knowledge of Security Standards, Policies and Governance frameworks
Knowledge of industry and government cybersecurity frameworks and regulations, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST 800-53, FINRA and CMMC.
Microsoft AZ-500 and MS-500 certification or equivalent AWS, GCP or OpenStack certified.
Secret Clearance
The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
US Citizenship: The successful candidate must be a U.S. Citizen. Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
Cloud Screening: Candidates must be able to successfully complete and pass a Microsoft Cloud background screening. Required Cloud Screenings will be administered on a recurring bi-annual basis.
Candidates selected for this position must comply with Federal Executive Order 14042 mandating that federal contractors and subcontractors receive the COVID-19 vaccine by being fully vaccinated before their date of hire, or work with Microsoft to receive an approved religious or medical accommodation
