Position Overview

As a Software Manager within PNC's Staff Services Technology practice you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville, OH. You will focus on working across technology teams and line of businesses areas to drive strategy and innovation related to employee facing technology. Key focus areas include:
• IT Value Strategy: shaping the direction of MIS to align with the overall business vision and objectives and drive measurable improvements• Technology Innovation and Eco-systems: exploring new and emerging technologies to create a vision of how technology will shape the future and invent the next wave of cutting-edge business solutions• Operating Model: shaping how MIS will need to operate to achieve stakeholder objectives and workforce talent strategy• Enterprise Architecture Strategy: developing the foundation for business and technology capabilities and execution improvement
Responsibilities:• Building a partnership among key stakeholders, technology partners and line of business (LOB) leaders to ensure that technology initiatives support business outcomes; requires strong communication and organizational skills• Scout innovative technology trends that should be brought into the workplace and gather best practices by participating in continuing education, peer groups and in; industry events; Serves as subject matter resource and advocate that influences the implementation of best practices and learning plans that meet business objectives• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand, analyze, develop, recommend, and deliver strategy and planning solutions, roadmaps and assessment of potential business impacts; assists with execution of key business initiatives, strategies and programs that will drive line of business objectives• Develop compelling insights and recommendations through quantitative and qualitative analysis• Lead aspects of the development of the long-term technology strategic plan, technology strategic business plan, and design of key technology initiatives• Defines appropriate processes and manages compliance to ensure corporate delivery quality at product/platform/program level; Monitors and maintains adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis
Skills/Experience:• Experience leading or managing small teams effectively and planning/structuring analytical work; Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment• Adaptability to excel in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environments• Experience with innovation, experimental processes and MVP development (Agile strategy, Agile transformation, Agile operating model, DevOps design experience, CI/CD, Product Based Operating Model and Org Design)• preferred • Broad, diverse experience and knowledge of major technologies (legacy to emerging); Experience with microservices architecture, cloud native architecture or 12 factor application architecture preferred• Capability to break down and solve complex problems through quantitative and qualitative analysis• Comfort driving independent workstreams in the broader context of a team project• Ability to motivate others and obtain buy-in across all levels of the organization• Excellent written and verbal communications including content creation through various mediums
Job Description
- Manages development projects, development teams and application support functions.
- Oversees multiple application programming and analysis projects which include development, installation and maintenance of application programs.
- Monitors and maintains adherence and compliance to quality standards on an ongoing basis.
- Maximizes staff contribution through professional growth and development, to increase teamwork and more effectively meet business needs.
- Analyzes applications to ensure that all systems that are developed, meet business needs and specifications.

Application Delivery Process - Knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, and formal application delivery methodologies; ability to utilize these in order to deliver new or enhanced applications.
Application Development Tools - Knowledge of and ability to utilize a variety of specific tools and toolkits for the development and support of applications.
IT Environment - Knowledge of an organization's IT purposes, activities and standards; ability to create an effective IT environment for business operations.
Work Experience
Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience. At least 3 years of prior management experience is typically required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
