Software Lab Engineer
Summary
The Software Lab Engineer I works in an Agile/Scrum based software development environment in creating robust platforms and innovative gaming products for current and emerging markets. She/he is responsible for setting up Electronic Gaming Machines (EGM), running tests & reporting results, ordering lab equipment & supplies, configuring EGM's. Other responsibilities include assisting Tier 3 technical support to set up EGM's and reproduce field issues. This position also works with the Automation Team by providing technical support (equipment, network, firewalls, etc). This engineer is expected to gain significant knowledge of the Aristocrat build process, CI/CD pipelines and typically advances into the Automation Team as a Software Engineer where they are responsible for code development, debugging, testing and integration of software products.
What you'll do

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses EGM components, configuration, and network connections.
  • Orders EGM components, memory, disk, etc., as needed to support QA, Development & Compliance.
  • Works with senior staff to ensure all required equipment and EGM are available as needed to support QA, Development, and Compliance delivery schedules.
  • Provide technical support to Tier 3 Engineering to debug and troubleshoot field issues.
  • Participates as required in process improvement initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned including maintenance code changes in various automation components for deployment and test execution; documents code changes and develops tests to verify the changes.


What we're looking for

  • Experience programming on Linux or Windows platform
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Object-oriented programming
  • Knowledge of design/modeling tools such as UML a plus
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience in the following:
    • C++ (preferred) or C#
    • Any debugger
    • Knowledge of version control
    • Knowledge of testing frameworks (preferred)
  • Technical support and/or help desk experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
