Job Description Summary
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager I to drive development delivery via agile practices, innovative software engineering, and high-performance. This position is responsible for leading an engineering team to build the latest NCR eCommerce Solution for SMB and enterprise customers in the Hospitality industry. The candidate should be from a development background and should have experience writing applications using the latest languages and technology such NodeJS-NestJS, Typescript, JAMstack GCP Docker/GKE, GHA, HELM. The candidate should be comfortable working with full stack engineers, product managers and product delivery teams.
Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide leadership to an organization in an agile environment.
- Manage concurrent projects and engineering staff to ensure project timing is maintained.
- Ensure customer success by delivering quality solutions on schedule and within budget parameters.
- Allocate resources as necessary to ensure success for all business requirements (cost, timing, quality, etc.).
- Develop resource plans and ensure that the organization has sufficient time to react to insufficient resources.
- Groom and plan stories alongside the Product Management team, providing critical engineering insight into approach, and cost/benefit.
- Ensure agile plans are followed and maintained.
- Build and maintain productive relationships within a matrixed organization.
- Use strong engineering decision-making to ensure a properly developed solution.
- Utilize and build best of breed engineering practices for development, automation, and continuous release management.
- Handle and prioritize customer escalations alongside new feature development.
- Serve as a professional example for others to follow.
- Define and track KPIs for the team.
- Objectively evaluate team performance and develop resources.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience; Master's degree in a related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams
- 5+ years of experience in Agile environment
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing software in an enterprise environment
- Proven software engineering experience with both breadth and depth, including different programming languages, APIs, and databases
- Experience with cloud services, such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Proficiency with programming languages such as NodeJS-NestJS, Typescript, JAMstack
- Strong knowledge in creating and working with APIs
- Familiar with interfaces such as REST web services, OpenAPI, etc
- Experience with modern tools for managing source code, builds, deployments, and automated testing
- Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical cohorts
- Superb troubleshooting skills, with a passion for resolving the most complex problems
- Very strong people management and mentoring skills
