Job Description Summary:
You would would manage a small technical team (10-15 direct reports) as well as be accountable for the delivery of mission critical applications. Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure (NIT) organizations providing thought leadership with the implementation of technology agnostic solutions that adhere to Enterprise Architecture and infrastructure roadmap/standards
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks while coaching others simultaneously to produce high quality deliverables
  • Responsible for providing technical guidance to software engineers, including hands on development of complex applications based on reference architecture
  • Supports teams, technical and test leads in shaping strategy for the Product/Platform
  • Demonstrates deep experience developing and supporting complex, mission critical systems
  • Demonstrates strong innovation, influencing, negotiating skills, and strategic agility
  • Demonstrates professional maturity, ownership of complex issues, and a strategic vision for the future
  • Collaborate with other members of a cross-disciplinary team operating within the Scrum framework to consistently deliver Product improvements according to the guidelines
  • Managerial responsibilities of the job include:
    • Writing and Conducting appraisals for the team member
    • Identifying training needs in collaboration with other leadership
    • Mentoring and coaching
    • Recruiting and on/off boarding
    • Gathering feedback
    • In conjunction with architecture and other leaders, ensure consistency in usage of development best practices, standards , tools and processes


What we are looking for:
The candidate would lead the development and implementation of mission critical applications. The position is for a leader who has hands-on technical as well as leadership experience. The candidate will be responsible for delivering applications based on the established FRB system architecture and will be involved in the entire delivery life cycle supporting Agile SCRUM teams
The candidate will work on planning and development of a subset of critical Fedwire applications spanning Funds, NSS, Settlement and Securities business lines
Required Technical Skills:
Minimum 10 years of experience with Java/J2EE distributed application Development. Includes strong experience with various J2EE components and services

  • Strong analysis and design skills, including requirements analysis, OO design patterns
  • General knowledge of open source frameworks
  • Experience with building and delivering mission critical, fault tolerant applications
  • Experience with Messaging (MQ/JMS) based Integration applications.
  • Strong understanding of Application resiliency, security, scalability and general performance concepts.
  • Keen understanding of performance issues and end to end debugging capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures (PL/SQL) and database fundamentals
  • Experience and understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps concepts
  • Experience and understanding of Cloud based architecture and technology


Required Leadership Skills

  • Ability to guide & coach other developers in development best practices
  • Strong ability to help a team in all facets of the delivery cycle from analysis of requirements, design, development through implementation.
  • Builds strong partnerships with business, operations, infrastructure and other key stakeholder groups
  • Strong ability to analyze risks, issues and other data in supporting teams reaching actionable decisions
  • Strong understanding of supporting mission critical applications ensuring excellent customer support
  • Ability to provide performance feedback and career planning with staff
