The Role

You are a self-starter with a bias towards problem solving. Clear communication and prioritization will be important as you plan, design, and deliver solutions. Your passion for the potential of using technology to improve people’s lives, and your experience leading complex technology projects will help you make strong business and technical judgments. You will lead a team of passionate and skilled engineers building state-of-the-art healthcare solutions. You will hire and mentor engineers and manage engineer career development. As a hand-on leader, you are able to balance contributing as an individual contributor with managing your team.

Who we are looking for (basic qualifications):

• 2+ years experience managing and building diverse software development teams.
• Experience forming teams and recruiting software engineers, developing careers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
• 5+ years experience developing software including designing and building distributed systems.
• Track record of contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling, Object oriented design, and Service Oriented Architecture) of new and current systems.
• Knowledge of modern programming languages such as C++, Go, or Java.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical field, such as computer science or engineering.

Who we are looking for (preferred qualifcations):

• Has taken systems software products and services from inception to customer delivery.
• Experience building high-volume, highly available systems and operating 24x7 services.
• Experience with scrum or kanban methodology for agile software development.
• Experience with building dynamic web applications and the APIs that power them.
• Experience with data engineers or business analysts in Big Data analytics
• Working knowledge of industry compliance standards (e.g. HIPAA, FERPA, PCI, etc.).

What you will do

• Build and manage a team of Software Engineers. Responsible for career growth and a healthy team culture.
• Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staff.
• Interface with peers and product managers to understand requirements, set priorities and communicate direction and progress.
• Own all operational metrics and support for your team’s software.
• Participate in teamwork and day-to-day processes and operations.
• Manage the development process and methodology to deliver incremental values to the customers.
• Participate in developing long-term business and technical strategies.
• Promote and implement best practices in modern software engineering: design, implementation, testing, version control, documentation, deployment, monitoring and operations.
