Software Engineering Manager - Mobile / Cloud (Finance)

As a Software Manager, Sustaining, you will be leading a small team in the support of the InPen mobile applications and cloud software products. Our product suite spans medical devices to track insulin, mobile apps, and back-end servers so this is a challenging task, and one that requires very critical thinking to ensure the system performs well.

A Day in the Life

 

  • Build and manage a team of technical personnel who provide support for existing InPen products. (Mobile apps and Cloud)
  • Monitors for field issues from various sources
  • Identify and scope the required work. Organize and build detailed plans including schedules, resource planning, quality and risk management plans, verification and validation plans.
  • Prioritize work and organize responses to urgent situations.
  • Provide technical direction and leadership
  • Coordinate across functional teams
  • Ensure design practices, test methods, and documentation meet the requirements of internal policies and external regulations.
  • Work closely with product engineering, product marketing, quality and the systems teams to ensure the product works properly from end-to-end, both pre and post-release.
  • Coordinate with development team to understand blocks and help find solutions.
  • Familiar with iOS and Android platforms
  • Strong expertise in one of the following languages: Objective-C, Swift, Kotlin or Java.
  • Be familiar with Agile processes, participate in daily meetings, demos, etc.
  • Experience with Atlassian suite of tools.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

 

 

  • Monitor commercial system, resolve issues quickly to minimize impact to end users.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, Understand requirements for developing software in regulated environment
  • Hands on manager, code if needed, help test if needed.
  • Work in an agile/scrum environment.
  • Perform mid-year, annual reviews

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

 

 

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or 3+ years of experience with a Master's degree.

Nice to Have

 

  • Experience managing and leading teams
  • Experience in mobile BLE communication on iOS/Android in a management role.
  • Experience coordinating with remote teams
  • Experience working in a regulated industry
  • Ability to jump in and code if needed
