As a Truist Group Head of Software Engineering for the LightStream Line of Business, you'll be leading a high energy, collaborative, execution driven technology team to deliver world class products to our clients and teammate.

This individual will recruit and develop high caliber technology leaders; Interface with senior executives across the enterprise to develop a strategic plan for delivering Information Technology (IT) solutions which address critical client and teammate needs. Partner with line of business (LOB) leaders to secure the appropriate investment level in technology to achieve business goals and be advocate for the business partners within IT. Maintain a focus on improving delivery effectiveness, software and data quality, and risk mitigation. Integrate people, process and technology in order to increase client shareholder value.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Set strategic direction for the assigned work area in alignment with the Business Strategy and Technology standards and provide thought leadership in the development of an enterprise strategic IT plan.
2. Broker and direct the design, engineering, implementation, and support of application software solutions in support of corporate objectives, to include determining whether to use internal or external labor, build or buy, leverage Cloud as appropriate, and using a variety of tools, etc.
3. End to end accountability to identify and design solutions that best meet the business needs of the enterprise.
4. Consult with clients, staff, and colleagues to identify and design solutions that best meet the business needs of the enterprise.
5. Plan and develop budgets and performs salary administration duties to meet budgetary goals.
6. Manage the life cycle of existing application software systems (and monitor the need for new capabilities) to provide cost effective functional, flexible and scalable solutions.

7. Maintain appropriate Risk Profile through owning the first line of Risk defense, proactively identifying risks, and implementing the necessary mitigations where warranted. Partner effectively with 2nd line of defense, Auditor, and regulators to ensure Risk is identified and mitigated appropriately.

Note: The difference between Group Head 1 and Group Head 2 is scope, such as size of budget and headcount, and complexity of the business line and related technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. Equivalent combination of advanced education and related experience, which could include any combination of: Fifteen years' experience managing software engineers and systems analysts, Ten years' relevant business experience (i.e. making technical-related decisions on the business side), Five years' managing a large staff, (including managing managers), and Five years' experience with budget responsibilities
2. Ability to translate enterprise level strategic planning information into software and data management needs, create business plans, and turn them into effective business solutions
3. Executive level communications skills, including, strong negotiation/facilitation/presentation skills and experience negotiating with vendors for relevant products and services
4. Significant knowledge of current and emerging application software products and tools
5. Extensive project management experience to include multi-million dollar projects completed on time, within budget and delivering quality results
6. Strong analytical and architectural skills
7. Ability to manage a high volume of internal client relationships
8. Knowledge of all phases of software engineering life cycle and experience with process improvement models

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Understanding of multiple approaches to Software Engineering.
2. Full understanding of Agile methodology and experience working with Agile teams.
3. Banking or financial services experience, especially in a particular niche area.

OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Visual / Audio / Speaking

Able to access and interpret client information received from the computer and able to hear and speak with individuals in person and on the phone.

Manual Dexterity / Keyboarding

Able to work standard office equipment, including PC keyboard and mouse, copy/fax machines, and printers.

Availability

Able to work all hours scheduled, including overtime as directed by manager/supervisor and required by business need .

Travel

Up to 75%
