As Software Engineering Director - 3D Pipeline, you will lead the creation 3D pipelines for digital product creation and the connection to enterprise systems. You will be an integral part of our technical strategy to advance our digital capability in computer graphics, and lead the team to realize that vision.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an experienced software engineering leader to lead development of a new technology capability with the potential to transform how Nike builds products. The successful candidate has a strong technical foundation, embodies an innovative approach, and is a champion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace. As the leader of a team within a large program, we also need someone that can establish relationships, influence stakeholders, and cut through ambiguity to provide clarity.

This role sits in Global Technology, is embedded with Digital Product Creation, and involves managing teams of software engineers in building digital concepts and software solutions for a range of capabilities that will transform the way Nike designs and makes product. Playing a key role in the research and development of digital tools, processes, and experiences, the ideal candidate is a problem-solver who is motivated to learn new technologies, communicate ideas and knowledge, and collaborate with teammates. He/she/they need(s) to be able to work with ambiguity and abstract requirements, developing features quickly, balancing speed with quality. Working on different projects, this role is for a generalist with experience with multiple technologies and/or domains, and is unattached to a particular language, platform, or tool. The candidate must also understand the importance of protecting Nike's intellectual property and highly confidential data.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In a typical week, you will spend time to build and mentor your engineering team, ensuring they are growing in their craft and have what they need to perform at their best. You will use partners to coordinate dependencies, mitigate risks, and make decisions needed to deliver continuous business value through technology. You will also use your technology experience and domain knowledge to give to the strategy and program planning of future products, platform capabilities, and teams.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
In addition to your team, you will collaborate regularly with Principal Engineers, Solution Architects, Product Managers, Program Managers, Data Analytics, and peer Engineering Directors to align enterprise-wide technical designs and plans. You will also embed into Nike's Digital Product Creation business unit and work closely with designers of footwear and apparel.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years software engineering experience.
  • 5+ years leading teams that include development, testing, and operations skills.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Strong skills in team leadership and building positive relationships with team members and collaborators.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both technical and business-facing.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and data structures.
  • Fluent in modern software architectural principles and patterns.
  • 5+years experience developing 3D pipelines.
  • 5+ years experience with C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience with various renderers (V-Ray, Arnold, Renderman, Octane).
  • Familiar with rendering techniques, including Path/Ray-Tracing and Rasterizers.
  • Experience with distributed cloud systems tech (Java, node.js, AWS EC2, AWS Lambda, AWS DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, or Google Cloud/Azure equivalents).
  • Continuous Integration and automated testing experience.
  • Ability to define solution options, provide estimates on effort and risk, and evaluate technical feasibility.
  • Experience with Scrum and agile planning.
  • Ability to pass a seven-year background investigation.
