Job Description

In this role, you will join a diverse and talented team of engineers and be responsible for developing software for treatment delivery from radiation therapy devices, an integral modality for improving the health of many cancer patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Software Development
• Write high-quality, secure, reliable code that fulfills product requirements
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure that code functions as expected
• Contribute to the maintenance of existing radiotherapy software through the handling of service escalations as well as root cause analysis and resolution of new or existing issues

Software Design
• Contribute to design discussions for software that enables new radiotherapy features
• Participate in the development of technical roadmaps to continually improve the quality, flexibility, and security of software subsystems
• Write subsystem requirements and tests for new radiotherapy features

Technical Excellence
• Support process improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of engineering development without sacrificing quality
• Provide mentoring and coaching to junior engineers
• Proactively share information in a timely manner with the right audiences at an appropriate level of detail

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, a STEM major (science, technology, engineering, and math), or similar discipline
• Demonstrated proficiency developing software in an object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, or C#
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and solve complex problems
• Experience contributing to software architecture and/or design for a complex system
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Technical Experience:
• Experience working in a highly regulated environment, preferably developing software for medical devices
• Experience in agile software development using scrum, XP, or similar frameworks
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Perforce or Git
• Experience with tools that support a modern CI/CD pipeline for software build, deployment, and test
• Experience developing code that runs in a multi-threaded, multi-core environment
• Experience leading small development projects and/or coaching and mentoring others

Will consider appointment as a Senior Software Engineer for more experienced candidates.

Location: Flexible. Preferred locations: Madison, WI, Cleveland, OH, Chapel Hill, NC, Sunnyvale, CA; open to candidates working remotely from other locations.

To qualify for this position, candidates must be able to furnish proof that they are authorized to work in the country they are applying on a permanent basis without sponsorship.
