Software Engineer
About the job
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will design and implement new software features of the productization services in Java and Python by understanding the architecture of multiple services that are used to build and release Red Hat products, creating software design and solutions for new software features as work packages, scoping the work packages, creating Jira issues, and implementing new software features.
What you will do
- Verify new software features implemented, develop new or update existing test frameworks on top of cloud-native technologies, develop and perform new test cases, and report bugs to team lead
- Submit patches for bug fixes and review patches from others, participate in and perform root cause analysis of issues to get a starting point to address problems, and resolve software issues
- Support the infrastructure and software production services by providing product support contact for the North America time zone, and implementing and maintaining monitoring, alerts, and security practices
- Partner with the other engineering teams to ensure the quality of deliverables
- Collaborate with a globally distributed technical team
- Publicize the work the team is doing through blogs, web postings, or conference talks
What you will bring
- Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, computer systems engineering, or related field and 3+ years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, computer systems engineering, or related field and 1+ year(s) of experience in the job offered or related role
- 1+ year(s) of experience with: software development, programming, automation, and testing; Python development; Jenkins Continuous Integration (CI); Groovy programming; Ansible; Linux; container and container orchestration; Git; event-driven software architecture to promote the production, detection, consumption of, and reaction to events; and REST APIs
