Key Responsibilities
- Generally assigned to increasingly complex components, sub-assemblies and systems, changes based on new requirements, and will contribute to the application of new technology
- Coordinate the development for the designated products including, but not limited to, embedded software design, documentation, developing C-code in accordance with standard operating procedures and the product delivery process
- Incorporate customer requirements, regulations, and product specifications into the design of the designated products, ensuring compliance with Magna Software Development Process, operational, cost, timing, safety, reliability, quality and manufacturing feasibility parameters
- Analyze products and formulate engineering conclusions by the application of engineering and/or mathematical principles and tools
- Create engineering documentation for the following deliverables as outlined in the Magna Software Development Process: Product Specification, Software Requirement Specification, Software Development Plan, Software Design and Implement Document, DVP&R's, 8D's test report, software problem reports, engineering changes and work orders
- Write, compile, and integrate software based on above requirements
- Design, program, and implement automatic test vectors
- Conduct software unit testing, static analysis, integration, validation, verification and release of software
- Conduct code reviews with peers and customers
- Consult and collaborate with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to product development requirements in order to create/support robust electro-optical systems control methods to eliminate campaign failure modes
- Conduct effective communications within the project team and with customers, suppliers, manufacturing and quality communities with minimal guidance from engineering management and engineering personnel
- Maintain all appropriate documentation
- Work with senior engineering personnel to support and drive best practices in design specifications, manufacturing processes, customer requirements and safety requirements
- Create, review and approve engineering direction and responsible for product testing to ensure key deliverables are met, including functional requirements, cost targets, timing, safety, reliability, quality and manufacturing feasibility parameters
- Review, approve, complete, and submit required change notices to ensure software quality meets design inputs
- Independently prioritize the completion of tasks and resolution of issues to ensure compliance to customer requirements and program deliverables
- Contribute to the development of project timing
- Understand and follow existing policies, procedures, work instructions and standards, and makes recommendations for continuous improvements
- All other duties, as assigned
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
- 5+ years of directly applicable industry experience in product design, analysis, testing and supervision preferred
- Working knowledge of electrical hardware and electrical circuit theory as it relates to embedded controls for electro-optical systems
- Ability to apply academic and other engineering principles in the development of automotive components and utilize math-based tools
- Vehicle level bus communication protocol development experience (i.e. CAN, LIN)
- Prior automotive production launch experience desired
- Understanding of hardware embedded environments such as Freescale, ST, NXP, Infineon, Microchip, Atmel, etc.
- Expert level C, Assembly language, Code Warrior, Cosmic compilers, Matlab, Simulink, Labview, Lab windows, other software design/development/test tools
- Understanding of standard software processes and industry requirements ASPICE, ISO, IEEE, CMMI, MISRA, AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, etc.
- Proficiency with MS Office
- Familiar with 3D CAD and 2D drawing software
- Experience with Altium designer or similar PCB layout software
