Job Description

Square's mobile applications continue to rapidly scale and diversify as each new opportunity is tackled by teams of passionate engineers. Mobile Performance & Reliability endeavors to amplify the efficiency of developing, building, testing, and releasing high-quality mobile apps.

Within Mobile Performance & Reliability, you will join a team focused on mobile performance, reliability, and observability. We instrument mobile applications to collect performance metrics, debug logs, analytics, & crash reports. As a software engineer (Ruby), you'll deliver full-stack systems that enable engineering, product, and leadership to measure and assess the impact of their work on our customers's experience.

Our team reports to the Developer Empowerment organization which ensures software development at Square is not only fast and efficient, but delightful.

You Will: 

• Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
• Operate and enhance highly scalable microservices consumed by millions of devices across several international markets
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across the company including product, design, legal, support, and other engineering teams
• Provide design reviews for engineering teams across Square working with our frameworks

Qualifications

• An eagerness to share your ideas, and openness to those of others.
• Demonstrated collaboration with co-workers on cross-functional teams and in other locations
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers.
• Strong familiarity with Ruby and/or Rails.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
