As a Software Engineering at Collins Aerospace, you are supporting the development of state-of-the-art flight critical embedded software for military and commercial aviation applications. You are a member of the engineering team responsible for the design, development, and verification of real-time embedded software. Your role also includes the design and implementation of power assist / process improvement tools. A detailed list of activities and skills related to your role is identified below:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Translation of customer requirements into software requirements
  • Review of software requirements to ensure compliance with customer requirements
  • Implementation of software requirements using design models (flow diagrams) and/or software code (proprietary language)
  • Review of software design and code to ensure compliance with software requirements
  • Generating, running, and reviewing test scripts and data to support software verification testing activities
  • Generate documents to sustain aerospace certification
  • Program Lead and/or software development phase lead
  • Generate slides to support leadership and/or customer reviews
  • Work independently and also in a team environment while building interpersonal and communications skills
  • Work in a self-motivated, innovative, results-oriented environment
  • Utilize and enhance analytical, organizational, project management, and leadership skills


Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • Experience with RTCA/DO-178 Level A or similar standards
  • Aerospace experience
  • Full life-cycle software development experience
  • Experience developing software architecture in an embedded software environment
  • Experience in C and Assembly language programming
  • Strong communication and interfacing skills with team members
  • Experience leading projects or tasks
