Software Engineer (NodeJS + Python)

About the role:
This Software Engineer role is primarily be focused on an asset segmentation solution called as PLATO, using scaled Agile framework to accomplish team goals. Prior experience related industries of Investments, Accounting and/or Finance is an asset!

Managed Investments brings in about 40% of the company's revenue. We use a complicated set up of systems that talk to each other with a combination of legacy and new systems/applications.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Design exciting new features to amplify Northwestern Mutual's investment opportunities.
- Decompose sophisticated problems into straight forward solutions.
- Apply engineering standard processes in order to analyze and develop software solutions.
- Develop software using established development and continuous integration practices.
- Apply established monitoring and automation processes.
- Conduct code evaluations.
- Participate in setting team standards and methodology.
- Assist with recruiting and hiring.
- Mentor new team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years professional experience with specific technical requirements/platforms - React, NodeJS, Python, SQL
- Familiarity with using continuous integration and deployment concepts ( CI/CD ).
- Familiarity with public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Containerization, Kubernetes)
- Strong technical skills and familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Understanding of the business domain (Investments, Accounting & Finance)
- Previous experience mentoring newer team members.
- Ability to clearly communicate to the business
