What Youll Do:
MTD Products is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to support the electrification of outdoor power equipment designs. As an Embedded Software Engineer, youll be part of our Stanley Black and Decker, MTD Products Electrical Systems Engineering Product Development Team located in Indianapolis, In.

Youll get to: • Design and develop software, diagnostic tools, and automated testing systems as part of the new product development process.• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers in the development of the software and electrical systems for outdoor power equipment.• Develop and verify system & subsystem designs for software-controlled electromechanical systems.• Leverage IoT technologies to support the full product lifecycle, including product manufacturing and service.• Generate engineering requirements and design documents; author and execute test. plans/processes for software verification and validation; document and present results. embedded Linux, RTOS, and debugging remote targets. • Experience creating a customized Linux distribution (Buildroot, Yocto, OpenEmbedded)• Design and implementation of brushed and brushless DC motor controllers; PID controllers.• Broad understanding of sensing technologies.• Use of IoT / cellular connectivity and cloud processing for data analysis.• Conducting root cause analysis, FMEA, and leading investigations of field issues.• Experience with standard electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, arbitrary waveform generators, and volt/ohm meters as well as proprietary electronic and software test tools.

Who You Are:• B.S. or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. • 5+ years experience of programming experience in C/C++ as well as scripting languages such as python and bash.• Extensive experience programming microcontrollers (STMicroelectronics, TI, Freescale), including serial communications (SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232), bootloaders, and digital signal processing.• Strong skills in modular design and coding.• Understanding of software lifecycle, coding standards, and git-based software version control.• Experience with Atlassian software development tools (including Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence) and automated build tools including Docker.
