Agility Robotics is a pioneer. Our robot, Digit, is the first to be sold into workplaces across the globe. Our team is differentiated by its expertise in imagining, engineering, and delivering robots with advanced mobility, dexterity, intelligence, and efficiency -- robots specifically designed to work alongside people, in spaces built for people. Every day, we break through engineering challenges and invent new solutions and capabilities that will one day make robots commonplace and approachable. This work is our passion and our responsibility: our mission is to make businesses more productive and people’s lives more fulfilling.

About Us

Agility Robotics is a pioneer. Our humanoid robot, Digit, is the first to be sold into workplaces across the globe. Our team is differentiated by its expertise in imagining, engineering, and delivering robots with advanced mobility, dexterity, intelligence, and efficiency -- robots specifically designed to work alongside people, in spaces built for people. Every day, we break through engineering challenges and invent new solutions and capabilities that will one day make humanoid robots commonplace and approachable. This work is our passion and our responsibility: our mission is to make businesses more productive, and people’s lives more fulfilling.

About The Role

Our software team is growing rapidly and we are looking for talented engineers to join our small, agile, world-class team. In this role you will develop state of the art task and motion planning algorithms that will allow Digit to reason and manipulate the world around it. You will work closely with perception and controls teams to execute your planning algorithms and solve challenging problems in real-world deployments.

About The Work

  • Support development of a grasp library for different objects and robot end effector designs
  • Support development of a manipulation primitive library (pick/drag/stack/etc) for manipulating boxes, totes, and other objects
  • Develop a framework for planning through locomotion and manipulation primitives
  • Support development of trajectory optimization algorithms for executing motion primitive plans
  • Work with other teams in software (Perception, State Estimation, and Controls) to solve complex cross functional problems

About You

  • You have
      • MS or Ph.D. in robotics, computer science, or related field or have equivalent industry experience
      • 2+ years of experience developing and deploying mobile manipulation task planning on high dof robots
      • Proficiency in classical robotics planning algorithms and trajectory optimization
      • Strong software experience in modern C++
      • Ability to communicate technical information effectively both orally and in writing with other team members
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
      • Authorization to work in the USA
  • You might also have
    • Industry experience deploying mobile manipulation robots in real world applications
    • Experience working with humanoid (or similar) robots
    • Experience leveraging machine learning or offline trajectory optimization for speeding up online planning
    • Experience with perception and scene understanding especially as it pertains to manipulation planning
    • Strong mathematical fundamentals in search and optimization
    • Exposure to standard agile and software development processes (issue tracking tools (Jira), feature branching, version control (Git), continuous integration and deployment)
    • Publications in your field (RSS, ICRA, IROS preferred
