You not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a SWE Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. SWE teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way.

Google Play is the marketplace where users discover apps, games, music, movies, and other digital content. The Google Play Commerce Infrastructure team is responsible for the under-the-hood systems that enable both free and paid acquisitions in the Google Play Store and other surfaces. This includes everything from the purchase flow, integration with payments systems, digital order lifecycle management, refund policy, abuse detection, and more. The team is responsible for supporting all acquisitions across Google Play and other Google products like Subscribe with Google, Stadia, Google One, and Digital Goods on Google Assistant. We are responsible for maintaining a high performance, low-latency, highly-reliable infrastructure that enables both buyers and sellers/developer experiences world-wide.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop.
