Position Summary

Software Engineer - Gateway Power and Propulsion Element responsible for system integration and interface management.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Software Engineer - Gateway Power and Propulsion Element will:

  • Be responsible for system integration and interface management
  • Coordinate software testing and verification Review software products and artifacts for completeness of design and implementation
  • Review software development activities across the full development life cycle
  • Complete hazard analysis reviews
  • Perform other duties as required


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities


REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

  • This position reports to the Project Manager


Qualifications

REQUIRED:

Requisition Qualifications:

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and 8+ years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and 8+ years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system discipline and 5+ years of progressive experience. Require demonstrated and recognized technical expertise in specialty areas of engineering system design and analysis
  • Software Architecture
  • Spacecraft Propulsion Systems
  • Avionics Communications and Tracking (CMT)
  • Proficiency with C/C++ coding
  • Proficiency with Linux
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python
  • Experience working as part of an Integrated Product Team to develop avionic systems
  • Experience developing software across the full development life cycle
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and coordination skills and strong customer service attitude
  • Requisition Preferences:
  • Knowledge of the NASA Gateway
  • Spacecraft systems and software, specifically for the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE)
  • Safety and flight critical software development
  • NASA software and systems development standards
  • ARINC653
  • RTC DO178
  • Object oriented software development
  • Agile software development
  • Core Flight Software (CFS)
  • Software project management experience
  • Experience with hazards and hazard analysis
