Eaton's Electrical Sector, Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) division is currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our team. This position is based in Raleigh, NC.

Eaton's Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division in Raleigh, NC is looking for a for a Software Engineer to design, develop and implement software solutions for three advanced phase power system. The engineer will work with a global software team developing software for advanced three phase power systems. These systems are rated from ten kilowatts up to several megawatts and are designed to operate in electrical power systems worldwide. The software controls the system operation, implements power conversion algorithms, creates user monitoring data and provides advanced product features. The candidate will work in several of these areas. Responsibilities include analysis, design, implementation and release of the software.

In this function you will:
  • Embedded software development using C, C++ for ARM / DSP processors for three phase power systems using agile processes.
  • Works as a member of a product development team, responsible for meeting schedule, cost and product performance goals.
  • Develops and proposes innovative technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Works with control system experts to develop algorithms that controls Inverters, Rectifiers and DC/DC converters.
  • Analyzes existing code modules and techniques to determine advantages and deficiencies.
  • Analyzes the power system architecture and requirements to develop technical solutions to achieve product requirements.
  • Keeps track of latest embedded software strategies, processes and tools. Applies knowledge to power electronics applications.
  • Develops engineering documentation including software requirements specification, design verification test plans, product configuration specifications, user interface specifications.
  • Works with global software team members to develop products and achieve software releases.
  • Troubleshoot/debug embedded code and track software and operational "bugs" to closure.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 1 year of engineering experience (internship included) in software/embedded development, electrical design, or power electronics

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Training on Design for Six Sigma concepts preferred.
  • Developing, coding and troubleshooting real-time software
  • Programming in C, C++, in an embedded environment
  • Knowledge of three phase power systems, power electronics and power conversion topologies is a plus.

PositionCriteria:
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as a team member on new product development project
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuitry
  • Knowledge of version control repository hosting services such as Bitbucket, SVN
  • Excellent verbal/ written communications.
  • Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
