Job Overview

Tusimple is a self-driving technology company with a mission to bring automation to the trucking industry. A well designed and executed Continuous Integration platform serves a critical need for the company to iterate fast with high confidence. As the company grows, the need for the ability to continuously build, test and release grows with it. In this role, you will lead a software engineering team to develop and support the Continuous Integration platform that supports multiple products, ranging from truck softwares to microservices. You will work closely with algorithm and engineering leadership teams to build the future of fast iterations. You will also work closely with test teams to identify opportunities to collect test metrics within the pipelines.

Example projects

• Develop a seamless continuous integration pipeline to build a single C++ library or application all the way through testing in an integrated environment, which is composed of hundreds of C++ libraries and applications.
• Investigate and create an approach for incremental builds using the pipelines to build and release large scale C++ applications.
• Implement pipelines to build, test and release microservices to on-prem or cloud providers.
• Support test team requirements to collect test metrics as part of the pipelines.
• Research and design the next platform for continuous integration, e.g. GitHub Actions.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead a software engineering team to design and implement the vision for the Continuous Integration pipelines that satisfy the need within the company.
• Hire, mentor and retain top talents in the team. Drive clarity, generate energy and deliver success with the team.
• Provide technical and architecture guidance. Drive exploration of new best practices in continuous integration.
• Work closely with partner teams including algorithm & engineering teams to collect feedback, communicate plans & progress, design requirements and prioritize.

Experience & Skills Required

• At least 5 years of industrial experience as a software engineer and/or manager, with at least 2 years of managing an engineering team;
• Excellent skills in architecture design
• Proven ability to coach/mentor junior engineers
• Experience with building Continuous Integration pipelines
• Experience with Groovy
• Experience with building C++ applications
• Experience with cloud services, such as AWS

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience working with autonomous driving technology.
• Experience with Python.
