As an Engineer in the Data Acquisition team, you will play a key role in one of the biggest assets of Slintel’s data platform. As part of this role, you will be responsible for getting, transforming and storing huge data sets from various sources. Also you will design, plan and execute the next generation large-scale data acquisitions technologies. 


Job Responsibilities:

  • Help develop & deliver complex systems. Build high performance, scalable systems to crawl and extract information from 10s of Millions of domains
  • Designing, planning and executing the roadmap for the team while focusing on introducing new ways to get data while preserving high data quality
  • Have high technical competence, strong technical background with track record of individual technical accomplishments
  • Work on relentless pursuing of ever-increasing goals on data coverage, data freshness and data quality metrics
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and hand-off with other functions and peer teams
  • Provide technical leadership for new experiments for acquiring data from new sources with great agility, and grow promising experiments to full fledged engineering systems and teams
  • Setup best practices for development and champion their adoption

Requirements:

  • Experience: 3-12 years of experience in tech based companies and preferably start-ups 
  • Hands-on experience and deep understanding of working with large scale datasets (10s of Millions of documents), highly scalable and available system architectures
  • Experience with Kafka, Storm, or other message queue & stream processing frameworks
  • Experience with in-memory cache eg. Redis, and distributed NoSql stores like Elastic search, Cassandra, Hbase etc
  • Experience in one of the languages like Java, Python, Scala, C# is preferred.
  • Ability to work with complex business flows and dealing with huge amounts of data
  • Experience with strong data quality controls.
  • Past experience of working on crawlers/ scrapers, and strong networking knowledge and experience would be a plus.
  • Prior experience of working with startups is strongly preferred.
