Team:

The Integrated Software organization builds SW systems that impact teams all across the company, from flight and launch systems, to our 3D printers. As a backend engineer, you will join our data infrastructure team to help bring easy data access to all of our engineering disciplines.

What you’ll do:

  • Build backend services to allow for easy ingestion of data streams from a variety of sources, including time-series, images, video, and other sensor types
  • Build services that manage data infrastructure as it scales
  • Develop the tools and infrastructure that allow our data science and ML teams to learn from our data and train the models needed to drive our 3D printing technology.
  • Collaborate across teams and disciplines (mechanical engineering, additive manufacturing, propulsion) to understand their requirements and build systems that meet them.

What you need to know:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 2+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Experience in C++, Python, or other object-oriented languages
  • Strong fundamentals in unit testing and release management

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary environments and multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with fast-paced environments where adjusting and reacting to new information is key

According to Fritz Gruber, Relativity Space employees need one thing: to approach their work with wonder and relentless passion. “My job is to experiment with new technology every day,” Gruber said. “The ‘unrealistic’ challenges push me to reimagine what I’m doing.” While Gruber explores new approaches to welding and 3D printing, he is laying the groundwork for future engineers as well. “This pushes me to think outside the box and allows me to unleash all my creativity,” he said. “It can be frustrating when I fail, but the reward of succeeding is incredible.”
