Position Summary:

AddShoppers team is looking for an experienced mid-level backend software engineer to help build the next iteration of its platform. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and help us deliver on key objectives in a meaningful way. The ideal candidate will focus on leading the development of the work stream while also serving as a mentor to the other developers in a Scrum environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of off-the-shelf tooling (vendor products) and develop custom applications 
  • Comfortable with an empowered and autonomous environment in a remote work setting
  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions
  • Work with project manager or product owner to meet specification needs
  • Recommend software upgrades to optimize operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with other developers to design and optimize code
  • Create flowcharts and user guides for new and existing programs
  • Document all programming tasks and procedures
  • Perform routine software maintenance
  • Collaborate with external clients and internal team members to meet product deadlines

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years professional software development or computer engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field. 
  • Proficiency with the following tech stack: Dataflow, Apache, GCP/AWS, Python, MongoDB
  • Have expertise with Python 3.x, ideally in a web environment
  • Experience in the design and development of sophisticated, modern web applications and services
  • Familiarity and comfort with REST APIs
  • Have knowledge or experience on developing UIs with HTML/JS/CSS
  • Capable of debugging software applications
  • Previous development experience in public cloud environments, GCP preferred
  • Experience deploying applications utilizing Kubernetes
  • Familiar with Django or similar Python web framework
  • Ability to draft testable software requirements
  • Participate in the design of new software applications
  • Have familiarity with maintainable software processes including:
    • Software documentation
    • Source code versioning
    • Unit testing
  • Quickly adapt to new situations and problems
  • Comfortable operating in a mission-critical and time-sensitive environment
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communicator, strong collaborator and a trusted teammate
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic
  • Experience efforting and refining work, and planning Sprints in a Scrum environment
