Software Engineer, Application Platform (New College Grad)
Our Team:
Think about the best products you’ve built as an engineer. Were they powered by APIs that did what you needed, so you could focus on solving your user problem? Did these APIs just make sense and work as expected? If so, you already know what we’re trying to do. Building production software is hard. Making it so simple to use that it disappears into the background is harder. Doing that for healthcare data, which can be messy, is so hard that nobody has really done it.
We’re the Application Platform team, and we make it easy to build products with Grand Rounds data. We wrangle the healthcare data into simple APIs so our product engineers can spend their time on tasks germane to their mission — building products that raise the standard of healthcare for our users.
Your Mission:
As a member of our team, your mission is to make it easy to build products with Grand Rounds data by owning impactful projects from gathering requirements to shipping and iterating. You’ll lead by example on technical execution and build strong opinions that causally help the team achieve its mission.
About You:
- You are currently working on your BS in Computer Science or related field with graduation date Winter 2021 or Spring/Summer 2022
- You have a passion toward utilizing technology to disrupt the healthcare industry
- You have strong fundamental software engineering skills and best practices
- You're a self-starter and motivated learner
- You have a strong desire for professional growth
- You have a knowledge and understanding of data stores, networking, distributed systems, and architectural patterns
- You have strong communication skills
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with teammates to design, build, and ship new data stores and microservices
- Gather and document partner team requirements to ensure we’re building the right things
- Model healthcare data on the FHIR standard using the power of extensions
Bonus Points:
- Experience in our current tech stack: Go, Python, Scala, Ruby, GraphQL, AWS, Kinesis/Kafka, MySQL/PostgreSQL, gRPC/Protobuf, Elasticsearch
- Experience in data modeling a plus
** This role will be for new college recent graduates with the position starting in 2022
