About the job
The Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (ACS) Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will build security solutions for our customers. We design workflows to secure our customers' Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes deployments across the full software development life cycle as part of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes (formerly StackRox). Combined with KubeLinter, a solution to lint security and operational readiness best practices, you will help us continue to differentiate Red Hat OpenShift as the most secure distribution of Kubernetes. You will work on new features and core backend services of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security, which will help our customers safely run the world's largest commercial Kubernetes clusters in private and public clouds. Our ACS engineering team is growing and that means you'll be able to make an immediate impact on our offering, APIs, architecture, and engineering processes. With Kubernetes adoption rapidly growing, the team constantly faces new challenges like simplifying our customer deployments, improving performance to support new workloads, or exposing gRPC services behind load balancers. Through all of this, you will ensure our offering just works for those getting started with Kubernetes and experts alike. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Design, build, maintain, and test core backend services and APIs for ACS
  • Work across our offering, focusing on efficient data collection, event processing, storage, and persistence
  • Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and product designers to shape, build, and improve new and existing features
  • Own core areas of the offering over their entire life cycle through design, implementation, and maintenance
  • Assist the Customer Support team in troubleshooting and resolving customer issues
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Build a personal brand and strengthen the company brand through technical blog posts and open source contributions
  • Write high-quality, maintainable software
  • Help your colleagues via code reviews and design feedback

What you will bring

  • Openness to learning new technologies, programming languages, and concepts; we work in Golang, but we care much more about your general engineering skills than knowledge of a specific programming languages
  • Enjoy delivering high-quality software through a principled, design-document-first approach
  • Experience building extensible and maintainable APIs
  • Experience with scalable distributed systems
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment working with different stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Understanding of and experience with Kubernetes is a plus
