Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Our Software Center is searching for a motivated, ambitious team player to fill a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at our Columbia, MD facility. We are looking for someone who loves science and technology and is passionate about developing a high quality product. Ideal candidates are problem solvers and will accept challenges, ask questions, and work collaboratively with team members.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Devel o ping and / or executing automated t e sts for AutoChem sof t ware prod u cts
  • Developing and maintaining the Test Infrastructure (hardware and software) based on SOLID object oriented design principles and Continuous Integration pipelines
  • Analyzing complex software systems and collaborating with the team to improve the overall testability and quality
  • Performing a d- h oc softw a re testing
  • Re p orting bu g s gen e rated by testing a c tivities in a m a nn er c o ns i s tent with c u rrent p ract i c e s
  • Providing a d ditional informat i on on sp e c ific bug re p or t s to assist in th e ir r e soluti o n b y the develo p ment team and assisting in the re-production of reported software problems
  • Providing r e c o mmen d atio n s for ch a ng e s to existing test cases to im p rove breadth and d e pth of testing and u p dating t e st c a s e s to provide future tes t ing cover a ge of c u sto m er r e port e d proble m s
  • Contr i buting to the develop m ent of softw ar e pro d uct test summ a ry re p orts i n clud i ng appr o pr i ate metrics
  • R e com m ending and sup p orting q uality impro v ements a nd changes to testing pr o c e s s e s, pr o c e d ures, tools, and work pr o duc t s to c o rr e ct defici e nc ie s and n o n c o mplia n c e a n d improve efficiency



What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in software development testing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience designing and supporting test automation for complex software products
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented design principles and experience with C# preferred
  • Experience with Behavior Driven Development
  • Experience with agile development methodologies such as SCRUM
  • Experience in web based software testing and software testing tools, particularly SpecFlow/Gherkin, SpecSync, Selenium Webdriver, Git, Azure DevOps; Kubernetes and Docker are a plus
  • Experience of testing embedded software driven systems is a plus
  • Strong interest in new technology and makes appropriate use of tools and technology
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents
  • SAP knowledge preferred
