Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for Lead Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) based in Boston, MA. In this role, you will help build the automated test infrastructure for one of the fastest growing e-commerce platforms. As a Lead Software Engineer in this role, you will work closely with software design and development teams to understand architectural diagrams and utilize the information to develop and execute automated QA strategies.
You will be responsible for crafting and maintaining automation frameworks, and developing new automation test cases used in the testing of applications. This also includes monitoring performance & testing result analysis, tracking bug reports and driving them to resolution.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with the Development & QA Teams to assess where and how we can best automate testing for Order Management Platforms (Order and Returns, Order Management System, Order Release, Drop Ship Integrations and the end-to-end experience for 2D and 3D product customization)
  • Design and develop an automation test strategy, resulting in a proven short and long-term ROI 
  • Implement a reusable automation framework for both Pricing and Promotion Platforms
  • Decide on the specific tools to best reach our automation goals 
  • Create, develop and maintain automated functional and regression test suites for both Pricing and Promotion applications 
  • Implement and maintain a Continuous Integration process by which automated tests are regularly executed against builds 
  • Collaborate with the SRE team as well as Build and Release Team to understand testing needs and gaps where automation can help in these areas 
  • Train other team members on Automation in an effort to continually improve overall efficiency and skillset of the QA Team 

What you’ll need

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline
  • 9-12 years as a Quality Engineer or Software Engineer
  • 5-8 years of proven experience building automation frameworks and designing automated tests
  • Proven experience creating and maintaining automation frameworks
  • Extensive experience with automation tools such as Selenium
  • Solid programming experience in one or more object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, Javascript, or Python
  • Experience integrating automated tests into the build process using Jenkins, Bamboo or other similar build systems
  • Experience in API test automation, UI and Relational databases with SQL
  • Experience in TDD, BDD, and data-driven test practices

 Bonus:

  • Knowledge of Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence)
  • Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Familiarity with performance, scalability or security/pentest
  • Knowledge of VM test environments and/or cloud-based compute environments
