Our Opportunity:

Chewy is looking for Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) based in Boston, MA or Plantation, FL. In this role, you will help build the automated test infrastructure for one of the fastest growing e-commerce platforms.

As part of the E-commerce ClickStream Analytics team, you’ll actively enhance the quality of Site Instrumentation (ClickStream Tag) by defining best practices, managing testing infrastructure, and writing and executing automated tests. You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, and manual testers to deliver highly reliable software. Your overarching objective is to make it easier for software engineers to write tests, product managers, and designers to track test results and improve our product’s overall quality and reliability.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with software engineers to meet their testing needs for both web and mobile applications.
  • Assess the depth and breadth of test coverage across our mobile and web applications for mission planning, command, and control; develop a plan for enhancements with clear objectives and milestones.
  • Identifying, implementing, integrating, and automating optimal test frameworks and testing strategies for both web and mobile applications
  • Define best practices for creating automated tests and writing testable code.
  • Integrate testing within the application codebase with analysis of data and logs from simulated and real-world flight tests with autonomous platforms; enable the identification and tracking of bugs based on flight tests and enhance test coverage to address bugs in the future
  • Maintain and enhance testing infrastructure and tools.
  • Implement and measure key application performance metrics from both computation and UX perspectives.
  • Work with product stakeholders to define key metrics for application quality.
  • Refer to UX designs and come up with fidelity scores for UI
  • Arbitrate user interaction with applications suggests improvements to overall interactivity based on quantitative and qualitative metrics extracted from tests
  • Perform latency tests on application interfaces to identify degradation in performance.
  • Ensure the execution of various quality activities, such as test planning, testing, and risk assessment for all features.
  • Create, maintain, and execute tests to improve test coverage.
  • Track and report on the evolution of test results over time and across releases

What you’ll need

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, similar degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience as a Tester, QA Engineer, SDET, or similar role with a focus on quality
  • 5+ years of expertise in testing web applications built with React/Typescript/Node with complex UX within a production environment.
  • Proven experience creating and maintaining automation frameworks
  • Extensive experience with automation tools such as Selenium
  • Solid programming experience in one or more object-oriented languages such as Java, Kotlin, JavaScript, or Python
  • Experience integrating automated tests into the build process using Jenkins, Bamboo or other similar build systems
  • Experience in API test automation, UI and Relational databases with SQL
  • Experience in TDD, BDD, and data-driven test practices
  • Experience in white box testing and test automation with web and mobile projects
  • Demonstrated ability to own the automation efforts and drive issues to resolution.

  • Strong technical collaboration and a desire to develop new skills
  • Excited by a fast-moving environment with a highly motivated group

Bonus:

  • Knowledge of Atlassian suite of tools (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence)
  • Experience working in Agile teams (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Familiarity with performance, scalability or security/pentest
  • Knowledge of VM test environments and/or cloud-based computer environments
