About This Role

LivePerson is growing fast, and we want our technology to keep up. We’ve formed a team that’s focused on evolving our technology, engineering tools, and processes so we can scale faster than ever before. We’re seeking a Software Development Director to help achieve this goal for our observability and deployment systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning stability goals for logging, monitoring, and deployment tools within our private cloud
  • Developing our strategy and roadmap for how we’ll evolve our logging, monitoring, and deployment solutions to work across private and public clouds
  • Rationalizing our strategy for self-managing services vs leveraging SaaS or other managed offerings
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of full-time engineers, managers, contractors, and external partners who build self-service solutions and provide guidance to teams on best practices for observability and continuous delivery
  • Owning goals that improve how we launch and maintain services at scale across our entire engineering organization
  • Driving planning, designing, and delivery of complex systems that span several departments or functions
  • Developing and reporting on key performance metrics for an entire product or department
  • Enabling your team to move better and faster by removing bottlenecks and handling escalations
  • Evaluating tradeoffs in difficult situations and recommending the best path forward to exec leadership

Your Qualifications Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent training or work experience.
  • 12+ years of experience leading software development teams & efforts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Track record of shipping great solutions, balancing both short-term wins and long-term objectives
  • Expertise in observability and deployment best practices, especially in a microservice architecture
  • Proven ability to hire, train, and retain a team of talented individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to adapt communication style to technical, non-technical, and executive audiences
  • Experience creating clarity from ambiguity
  • Experience managing indirectly through other managers
  • Experience evaluating architectures that scale with volume and are fault-tolerant
  • Experience evaluating cloud software services and an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability, in both private and public cloud environments
  • Experience with the best practices of developing APIs in a microservice architecture
  • Proven ability to work in a fully remote environment with people across the globe
  • Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g AWS Certification, Google Cloud Platform Certification)
