At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Software Developer supporting the DME Contract, you will be trusted to research and design the DME applications software.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Analyze user/business needs and functionality to plan and design software systems to meet those needs.
  • Ability to analyze programs and understand the functionality.
  • Independently field all application and technical questions from users, peers, customers, and superiors with minimal directions from others.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and the health care industry.
  • Has clear, concise writing skills. Create usual written assignments, which include functional specifications, conference call agendas, Problem updates, technical specifications, documentation, and e-mails to Customers and team members.
  • Determine the priority and critical nature of a Customer request or reported problem from the Customer's perspective.
  • Define the scope of a system change.
  • Contributes to the estimation of system changes for customer requests from functional, technical, documentation, training, and any other perspectives
  • Provides guidance to all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Has an advanced knowledge of COBOL programming languages, JCL, analysis, and testing and debugging tools.
  • Proactively identifies Risk and provides potential solutions to mitigate the Risks.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and is part of the team's management team; can work independently, lead, or work as part of a project team.
  • Responds to questions; responding to problems reported; suggesting new policies, procedures, or other improvements; suggesting new enhancements in the systems for which he/she is responsible; and in any other way that would improve the product or work environment.
  • Takes ownership of assignments and completes with no follow-up.
  • Ability to code, prepare unit test plans and unit test assignments.
  • Knowledge / ability to estimate time needed for assigned tasks as well as time remaining.
  • Researches and responds to QCNs, except for Help Desk who may need owning Dev team's assistance.
  • Understands where to find / how to use process and system documentation for research.
  • Understands testing best practices.
  • Effectively communicates to customers.
  • Ability to review functional specifications of others and provides feedback.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related business or technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • 8+ years of Software Development.
  • 5+ years of Requirements Analyst experience.
  • Must have technical skills in COBOL, JCL, VSAM, CICS.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder to be considered for this position.



DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Healthcare experience is strongly desired.
