The Software Developer is responsible for the design, development, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Costco's Integrated IT Management platform (ServiceNow aka "CARTS"); provides analysis of problems while working toward solutions to technical issues; deploys new releases and/ or enhancements; maintains and supports the platform's operational functions; and performs system and integration testing. This individual will provide platform configuration and customization assistance including, but not limited to: screen tailoring, workflow administration, report setup, data imports, custom scripting, and third party software integrations. The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the ongoing enhancement and maintenance of the Service Management platform; and must be able to act with a sense of urgency and adapt to changing priorities. Mentoring, coaching and training of team resources is also a responsibility of this role.

ROLE

• Provides daily support of the ServiceNow platform; including script development, configuration, integration, and administration.
• Performs appropriate QA activities such as writing unit tests and performing functional tests.
• Determines scope; estimates work effort and duration of development activities.
• Designs solutions to meet business requirements.
• Creates and maintains API and data integration processes between ServiceNow and other services.
• Monitors health and usage of the application.
• Participates in design and code reviews.
• Responds to requests and provides incident resolution.
• Creates process documentation for the team and provides internal training to team members.
• Generates reports and KPI analysis as needed.
• Possesses a firm understanding of object-oriented concepts, especially as they pertain to JavaScript (ES5).
• Understands Costco's IT processes and works closely with the business owners.
• Understands and adheres to Costco's Mission Statement and Code of Ethics.

Provides 24 x 7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members

REQUIRED

• Minimum 3 years' ServiceNow experience.
• Minimum 3 years' development experience using languages such as JavaScript, Java or C#.
• 2 years' experience with web technologies including API's/CSS/XML/HTML/ReST/WebServices.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as Angular.js, jQuery or Jelly.
• Experience with the SDLC including Requirements Analysis, Design, Installation, Development, Testing (application code and user acceptance), and Deployment.
• Working knowledge of source code management tools.
• Ability to communicate technical information in business terms.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task.
• Ability to independently plan deliverables and coordinate with team-members.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to logically think through problem situations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Prior experience mentoring and providing technical leadership
Recommended

• Experience working as a contributing member on an Agile Scrum based Delivery Team.
• Working knowledge of software design patterns.
• Working knowledge of test automation frameworks such as: ServiceNow ATF, Selenium or Cucumber.
• Experience as a ServiceNow Administrator, Developer, or Implementation Specialist.Certified ServiceNow Admin (Advanced).
• Demonstrated project work of advanced ServiceNow development using Orchestration or Discovery.
• Exposure to ITIL concepts.
