As a Software Architect you will use both technical (i.e. virtualization, network, storage, etc.) and software (i.e. Healtcare/Claims processing systems) knowledge to create solutions that meet a business outcome and operational set of requirements. Driving the evolution of the software and operational architecture for QNXT commercial software by aiding in the assessment of market and technology trends and vetting both architectural opportunities and the impact on the current software and business solutions. Emphasis is placed on cross system interactions providing guidance and defining design rules enabling the integration of products into system solutions. This includes definition of infrastructure, technology roadmaps, interface policy, integration frameworks and shared components.

Essential Functions:

  • Driving the definition, validation and documentation of technical solution designs with multi-technology, cross product systems with a strong understanding of how the solution serves the desired business outcomes and operations.
  • Breaking down very complex business problems and implementing sustainable solutions that have valuable impact to our the customers, both internal and external.
  • Identifying and defining individual solution components for work dissemination to the technical project team.
  • Remaining knowledgeable on current technical trends and practices and leading the translation of this knowledge to continuous solution improvement.
  • Identifing architectural gaps and/or opportunities based on knowledge and research to apply them into feasibility proof of concepts and prototypes.
  • Presenting prototypes to peer groups and stakeholders in a pragmatic fashion.
  • Appling leading edge technologies (e.g., virtualization, software, storage, network, etc.) to deliver new innovative services, with a strong understanding of how the solution components impact the application.
  • Driving and disseminating various development activities such as requirement gathering, service design and implementation.
  • Providing constructive feedback on solution designs and development artifacts.
  • Consulting with development implementation teams with leadership and peer review teams.
  • Providing informal leadership to more junior associates and development implementation teams.


Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
Master's degree preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be taken into consideration in lieu of a degree.
Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in Software Design and application development
  • Experience architecting solutions via advanced proficiencies in the latest web technologies, programming languages/ frameworks, technical design patterns and performance engineering.
  • Experience architecting cloud native solutions and micro service applications.
  • Knowledge of virtualization techniques such as containers and orchestration.
  • Experience with full stack DevOps and infrastructure automation tools.
  • Experience in development of security methodologies.
  • Familiarity with modern emerging technologies including open source.

  • C#, JavaScript, Typescript, SQL, HTML5, CSS3, Angular, NodeJS, CI/CD Pipelines, Microservices, Client-Side SPA, SOA, OWASP Patterns, W3C Patterns, Server-Side frameworks (Microsoft .Net, .Net Core, ASP.net, Blazor) Microservices and API Management - (ReST, GraphQL, gRPC), Virtualization (Kubernetes, Docker) Emerging - (Machine Learning, AI, RabbitMQ/Kafka, Hadoop).
  • Experience in application security and performance engineering

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $100K-$140K depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
