Skills Analyst - Cloud/Software Engineering
Coursera was launched in 2012 by two Stanford Computer Science professors, Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller, with a mission to provide universal access to world-class learning. It is now one of the largest online learning platforms in the world, with 92 million registered learners as of Sept. 30, 2021. Coursera partners with over 250 leading university and industry partners to offer a broad catalog of content and credentials, including Guided Projects, courses, Specializations, certificates, and bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Institutions around the world use Coursera to upskill and reskill their employees, citizens, and students in many high-demand fields, including data science, technology, and business. Coursera became a B Corp in February 2021.
The Skills Consultant will have the ambitious responsibility of helping Coursera understand the needs of our Cloud/Software Academy B2B Enterprise customers. These buyers are responsible for the training, upskilling, and reskilling of professionals at their company in Cloud and Software Engineering. You will conduct qualitative and quantitative research with our internal teams, Enterprise customers, and Enterprise learners to understand what are the greatest pain points and needs for our Enterprise customers. For the fullest picture, you will also conduct market research and a competitive analysis, and marry these learnings with the insights you have gleaned internally and from customers. The output of your work will be a skills needs/gap analysis, the conceptual grouping of skills into “SkillSets” so they make sense to learners and can be “sold” as a package to companies, and recommendations on how these skills ladder to content that Coursera should source. You will be expected to present on your findings and output to the highest level stakeholders at Coursera with a data-forward and strategically cohesive narrative.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal Coursera teams including Content Strategy, Enterprise, Marketing, and Data Science to gain context on SkillSets work, and ensure that your work dovetails
- Work with SkillSets: identifying the relevant skills, content and roles to create SkillSets for Cloud/Software Academies. Ensure content quality for SkillSets before launch. Update SkillSets based on all feedback collected quarterly. Review and validate questions included in LevelSets
- Conduct qualitative research (e.g., interviews, surveys) with Coursera internal stakeholders and B2B Enterprise buyers to understand pain points and needs of the Cloud/Software Academy Enterprise buyer
- Review nuanced consumption data showing both B2B deals and enrollments in the skills that underlie the Cloud/Software Academies
- Conduct market research and a competitive analysis to round out your view of pain points and opportunities -- placing insights in a broader context
- Present on your findings and output to the highest level stakeholders at Coursera with a data-forward and strategically cohesive narrative, join sales calls with enterprise clients to help them understand the benefits of the academy.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in Cloud/Software Engineering and understanding of related industry trends, but with career experience that allows you to evaluate the Academy topic using a 30,000-foot view
- Previous history with a variety of companies with a strong reputation in Cloud/Software Engineering that you could readily tap for interviews and context
- Demonstrated experience with data and analytics
- Proficiency using complex and large data sets
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s, Doctorate, or equivalent work experience in your field
- Strong research skills, including persona research and interviewing
- Experience with B2B businesses -- especially international companies
- Passion for learning and Ed-Tech
- Ability to manage and communicate with multiple stakeholders
- Creative ability to identify and envision trends of the future
